Validation of Methylmercury Determinations in Aquatic Systems by Alkyl Derivatization Methods for GC Analysis Using ICP-IDMS

Isotope dilution mass spectrometry (IDMS), using an inductively coupled plasma quadrupole mass spectrometer (ICPMS) and a species-specific methylmercury spike was applied to validate the commonly used GC method for methylmercury (MeHg+) determination, which is based on the formation of volatile methylethylmercury by derivatization with NaBEt4. The spike compound, Me201Hg+, was synthesized by reaction of 201Hg-enriched mercury chloride with methylcobalamin. By analyzing different environmental aquatic samples, it was found that in most cases, transformation of MeHg+ into elemental mercury (Hg0) took place. Several coupled cluster methods have been used to compute the vertical excitation energies and oscillator strengths of the lowest singlet states of urea. Except for one excitation, the results are in good agreement with experiment, but previously non-detected transitions have been found.
On the electron affinity of TCNQ

The electron affinity of 7,7,8,8-tetracyano-p-quinodimethane (TCNQ) has been studied with density functional theory and coupled cluster (CC) procedures. The adiabatic electron affinity of TCNQ calculated with the B3LYP method is about 1 eV higher than the available experimental value. At the CCSD(T) level, the theoretical result is overestimated by more than 0.4 eV. The electron affinity computed for TCNQ is larger than that obtained for tetracyanoethylene at all levels of calculation, exactly the opposite of what is observed experimentally. Accordingly, a call for an additional empirical measurement of such a property is made.
Theoretical CASPT2 study of the excited state double proton transfer reaction in the 7-azaindole dimer

Accurate CASPT2 calculations on the excited state double proton transfer reaction in the 7-azaindole dimer have been performed on different symmetric and asymmetric pathways along the protons interchange. The presence of a conical intersection connecting the initially photoinduced singlet excited state with a charge transfer state leading both to asymmetric ionic and neutral structures promotes a step-wise mechanism, probably taking place through the ionic intermediate. The concerted path is computed slightly higher in energy in the gas phase.
Depth profiling of Pu, 241Am and 137Cs in soils from southern Belarus measured by ICP-MS and alpha- and gamma-spectrometry

The depth distribution of plutonium, americium, and Cs-137 originating front the 1986 accident at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) was investigated in several soil profiles in the vicinity from Belarus. The vertical migration of transuranic elements in soils typical of the 30 km relocation area around Chernobyl NPP was studied using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), alpha spectrometry, and gamma spectrometry. Transuranic concentrations in upper soil layers ranged from 6 x 10(-12) g g(-1) to 6 x 10(-10) g g(-1) for plutonium and from 1.8 x 10(-13) g g(-1) to 1.6 x 10(-11) g g(-1) for americium. Coupled coincidence point results for (φ,ψ)-contractive mappings in partially ordered metric spaces

Abstract. In this paper, we extend the coupled coincidence point theorems for a mixed g-monotone operator F : X × X → X $F:X\times X\rightarrow X$ obtained by Alotaibi and Alsulami [Fixed Point Theory Appl. (2011), article ID 44], by weakening the involved contractive condition. Two examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of our generalizations. Our result also generalizes some recent results announced in the literature. Moreover, some applications to integral equations are presented.
Coupled fixed-point results for T-contractions on cone metric spaces with applications

The notion of coupled fixed point was introduced in 2006 by Bhaskar and Lakshmikantham. On the other hand, Filipovićet al. [M. Filipovićet al., “Remarks on “Cone metric spaces and fixed-point theorems of T-Kannan and T-Chatterjea contractive mappings”,” Math. Comput. Modelling 54, 1467–1472 (2011)] proved several fixed and periodic point theorems for solid cones on cone metric spaces. In this paper we prove some coupled fixed-point theorems for certain T-contractions and study the existence of solutions of a system of nonlinear integral equations using the results of our work. The results of this paper extend and generalize well-known comparable results in the literature.
