Extended HQEFT Lagrangian and currents
2000
From the tree-level heavy quark effective Lagrangian keeping particle-antiparticle mixed sectors we derive the vector current coupling to a hard gluonic field allowing for heavy quark-antiquark pair annihilation and creation.
Nonperturbative renormalization constants and light quark masses
2002
We present the results of an extensive non-perturbative calculation of the renormalization constants of bilinear quark operators for the non-perturbatively O(a)-improved Wilson action. The results are obtained at four values of the lattice coupling, by using the RI/MOM and the Ward identities methods. A new non-perturbative renormalization technique, which is based on the study of the lattice correlation functions at short distance in x-space, is also numerically investigated. We then use our non-perturbative determination of the quark mass renormalization constants to compute the values of the strange and the average up/down quark masses. After performing an extrapolation to the continuum …
The phi NN coupling from chiral loops
2002
Starting from effective Lagrangians which combine a gauge formulation of Vector Meson Dominance with Chiral Lagrangians, the coupling of the phi to the nucleon, which is zero at tree level due to the OZI rule, is calculated perturbatively considering loop contributions to the electric and magnetic form factors. We obtain reasonably smaller values for both form factors than those for rho NN and consistent with the expected order of magnitude of the OZI rule violation.
Test of the flavour independence of αs
1995
Abstract Using about 950000 hadronic events collected during 1991 and 1992 with the ALEPH detector, the ratios r b = α s b α s udsc and r uds = α s uds α s cb have been measured in order to test the flavour independence of the strong coupling constant α s . The analysis is based on event-shape variables using the full hadronic sample, two b -quark samples enriched by lepton tagging and lifetime tagging, and a light-quark sample enriched by lifetime antitagging. The combined results are r b = 1.002±0.023 and r uds = 0.971 ± 0.023.
The Weak-Magnetic Moment of Heavy Quarks
1997
With initial and final particles on-shell, the anomalous weak-magnetic dipole moments of b and c quarks are electroweak gauge invariant quantities of the effective couplings Zb\bar{b} and Zc\bar{c}, respectively, and good candidates to test the Standard Model and/or new physics. Here we present a complete computation of these quantities within the Standard Model. We show that decoupling properties with respect to heavy particles do take place in the weak magnetic moment. The obtained values, a_b(M_Z^2)=(2.98-1.56i)x10^(-4) and a_c(M_Z^2)=(-2.80+1.09i)x10^(-5) are dominated by one-gluon exchange diagrams. The electroweak corrections are less than 1% of the total magnitude.
Zb(10610) and Zb′(10650) decays in a covariant quark model
2017
We present a calculation of the strong decays of the exotic states ${Z}_{b}(10610)$ and ${Z}_{b}^{\ensuremath{'}}(10650)$ using a covariant quark model. We use a molecular-type four-quark current for the coupling of the ${Z}_{b}(10610)$ and ${Z}_{b}^{\ensuremath{'}}(10650)$ to the constituent heavy and light quarks.
Search for New Phenomena in Final States with Two Leptons and One or No b -Tagged Jets at s=13 TeV Using the ATLAS Detector
2021
A search for new phenomena is presented in final states with two leptons and one or no $b$-tagged jets. The event selection requires the two leptons to have opposite charge, the same flavor (electrons or muons), and a large invariant mass. The analysis is based on the full Run-2 proton-proton collision dataset recorded at a center-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s} = 13$ TeV by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 139 fb$^{-1}$. No significant deviation from the expected background is observed in the data. A four-fermion contact interaction between two quarks ($b,s$) and two leptons ($ee$ or $\mu\mu$), inspired by the $B$-meson decay anomalies, is used as a…
Measurement of jet charge in dijet events froms=8 TeVppcollisions with the ATLAS detector
2016
The momentum-weighted sum of the charges of tracks associated to a jet is sensitive to the charge of the initiating quark or gluon. This paper presents a measurement of the distribution of momentum ...
QCD exotics versus a standard model Higgs boson
2012
The present collider data put severe constraints on any type of new strongly interacting particle coupling to the Higgs boson. We analyze the phenomenological limits on exotic quarks belonging to nontriplet $SU(3{)}_{C}$ representations and their implications on Higgs searches. The discovery of the standard model Higgs, in the experimentally allowed mass range, would exclude the presence of exotic quarks coupling to it. Thus, such QCD particles could only exist provided that their masses do not originate in the SM Higgs mechanism.
QCD corrections to static heavy-quark form factors
2005
Interactions of heavy quarks, in particular of top quarks, with electroweak gauge bosons are expected to be very sensitive to new physics effects related to electroweak symmetry breaking. These interactions are described by the so-called static form factors, which include anomalous magnetic moments and the effective weak charges. We compute the second-order QCD corrections to these static form factors, which turn out to be sizeable and need to be taken into account in searches for new anomalous coupling effects.
