2020
Aryl benzoates are compounds of high importance in organic synthesis. Herein, we report the iron-catalyzed C(sp2)&ndash
How the Protein Environment Can Tune the Energy, the Coupling, and the Ultrafast Dynamics of Interacting Chlorophylls: The Example of the Water-Solub…
2020
The interplay between active molecules and the protein environment in light-harvesting complexes tunes the photophysics and the dynamical properties of pigment–protein complexes in a subtle way, which is not fully understood. Here we characterized the photophysics and the ultrafast dynamics of four variants of the water-soluble chlorophyll protein (WSCP) as an ideal model system to study the behavior of strongly interacting chlorophylls. We found that when coordinated by the WSCP protein, the presence of the formyl group in chlorophyll b replacing the methyl group in chlorophyll a strongly affects the exciton energy and the dynamics of the system, opening up the possibility of tuning the ph…
Colorimetric determination of arylamines and sulphonamides by diazotization and coupling in a micellar solution
1989
Abstract The use of a micellar solution as a means for improving the colorimetric determination of arylamines by diazotization and coupling is studied. Sodium dodecylsulphate (SDS), Triton X-100 (TX-100) and N -cetylpyridinium chloride (NCPC), together with the diazotizable substances aniline and sulphanilic acid and the coupling agents 1-naphthylamine and N -(1-naphthyl)ethylenediamine are used as model compounds. The protonation constants of the dyes follow the order SDS>H 2 O>TX-100>NCPC. In an SDS micellar solution the coupling rate increases greatly, allowing the rapid formation of the protonated dyes in an acetate buffer. Other advantages are the possibility of analysing very non-pola…
Study on the efficiency of assembled packed microbore columns in HPLC
1984
Stainless steel columns (internally mirror-finished, 125 or 250nm in length, of bore 1.0 or 1.6mm) were slurry-packed with 5µm and 4µm reversed phase silicas (Hypersil ODS, LiChrosorb RP-8 and RP-18 and Superspher RP-8. The HPLC equipment consisted of a pump LC5A (Shimadzu) or a pump 2150 (LKB Instruments), a rheodyne valve 7413 with loops of 0.5, 1.0 and 5.0mm3 and a Jasco-Uvidec 100-II UV detector, variously with one of three specially constructed cells of 0.2, 0.4 and 1.3mm3 volume. Columns were assembled using two types of coupling device employing a stainless steel capillary of 0.12mm bore. The effect of sample volume, design of coupling device in assembled column, detector cell volume…
Vascular resistance arm of the baroreflex: methodology and comparison with the cardiac chronotropic arm.
2020
Baroreflex response consists of cardiac chronotropic (effect on heart rate), cardiac inotropic (on contractility), venous (on venous return) and vascular (on vascular resistance) arms. Because of its measurement simplicity, cardiac chronotropic arm is most often analysed. The aim was to introduce a method to assess vascular baroreflex arm, and to characterize its changes during stress. We evaluated the effect of orthostasis and mental arithmetics (MA) in 39 (22 female, median age: 18.7 yrs.) and 36 (21 female, 19.2 yrs.) healthy volunteers, respectively. We recorded systolic and mean blood pressure (SBP and MBP) by volume-clamp method and R-R interval (RR) by ECG. Cardiac output (CO) was re…
ChemInform Abstract: The Reaction of Aromatic α,β-Unsaturated Ketones with 4,5- Diamino-1,6-dihydropyrimidin-6-ones.
2010
The reaction of 4,5-diamino-1,6-dihydropyrimidin-6-ones 1 with one equivalent of the chalcones 2 leads in an acidic medium to the formation of the 2,4-diaryl-2,3,6,7-tetrahydro-1H-pyrimido[4,5-b][1,4]diazepin-6-ones 3a-m. The structure elucidation of the products is based on detailed nmr investigations including selective 13C[1H] decoupling experiments.
Enhanced Mathematical Modelling of Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine Considering Saturation, Cross-Coupling and Spatial Harmonics effects
2020
The Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous machine (IPMSM) conventional mathematical model is generally employed to investigate and simulate the IPMSM control and drive system behaviour. However, magnetic nonlinearities and spatial harmonics have a substantial influence on the IPMSM electromagnetic behaviour and performances. In order to simulate the IPMSM real electromagnetic behaviour, this paper describes an enhanced mathematical model that takes into account the saturation, cross-coupling and spatial harmonics effects. This model has been implemented in Matlab®/Simulink environment where the electric and magnetic parameters are derived from FEA investigations and implemented by the use o…
The integral‐direct coupled cluster singles and doubles model
1996
An efficient and highly vectorized implementation of the coupled cluster singles and doubles (CCSD) model using a direct atomic integral technique is presented. The minimal number of n6processes has been implemented for the most time consuming terms and point group symmetry is used to further reduce operation counts and memory requirements. The significantly increased application range of the CCSD method is illustrated with sample calculations on several systems with more than 500 basis functions. Furthermore, we present the basic trends of an open ended algorithm and discuss the use of integral prescreening. © 1996 American Institute of Physics.
Experimental Prototyping of a Microgrid with Mechanical Point of Common Coupling
2020
The smartgrid is a key technology for the sustainable and smart utilization of the renewable energies. In this paper, a prototyping of a microgrid, assembled at the Sustainable Development and Energy Saving Laboratory (SDESLAB) of the University of Palermo, is presented and discussed. In detail, the microgrid presents only one mechanical point of common coupling (PCC) with the main grid and it is electrically separated from the main grid. In this way, the voltage variations of the main grid do not affect the microgrid electric quantities behavior. In order to validate the effectiveness of the voltage and frequency control, several experimental tests and analysis have been carried out. In de…
Chiralities of nodal points along high symmetry lines with screw rotation symmetry
2021
Screw rotations in nonsymmorphic space group symmetries induce the presence of hourglass and accordion shape band structures along screw invariant lines whenever spin-orbit coupling is nonnegligible. These structures induce topological enforced Weyl points on the band intersections. In this work we show that the chirality of each Weyl point is related to the representations of the cyclic group on the bands that form the intersection. To achieve this, we calculate the Picard group of isomorphism classes of complex line bundles over the 2-dimensional sphere with cyclic group action, and we show how the chirality (Chern number) relates to the eigenvalues of the rotation action on the rotation …
