Mild to moderate iodine deficiency has been found among young Norwegian women of reproductive age. In Norway, cow’s milk is the main source of iodine; however, milk consumption is decreasing, particularly among young women. This study aimed to investigate milk consumption practices in young Norwegian women and their attitudes toward milk consumption from childhood to young adulthood in a life-course perspective and their knowledge of milk as a source of iodine. Artykuł prezentuje wyniki analizy telewizyjnego orędzia prezydenta Francji Emmanuela Macrona z dnia 16 marca 2020 roku. Stanowi ono przyczynek do wskazania na znaczenie we współczesnym dyskursie politycznym odwoływania się do logiki strachu i poczucia zagrożenia. Case-studies on average-case analysis for an elementary course on algorithms

Average-case algorithm analysis is usually viewed as a tough subject by students in the first courses in computer science. Traditionally, these topics are fully developed in advanced courses with a clear mathematical orientation. The work presented here is not an alternative to this, rather, it presents the analysis of algorithms (and average-case in particular) adapted to the mathematical background of students in an elementary course on algorithms or programming by using two selected case-studies.

Gender differences in Italian STEM degree courses: a discrete-time competing-risks model

In this paper, we highlight possible gender differences in performance of students attending Italian university STEM degree courses, controlling for sociodemographic and territorial variables.We used the micro-data from the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research database of the 2011-12 freshmen cohort enrolled at an Italian bachelor university degree course. The analysis was dealt with by fitting a discrete-time competing-risks model. Bachelor degree graduation, dropout, and change to non-STEM courses were considered as competing events. The aim is to highlight gender gaps in the student performance, and the STEM courses where this gap is more critical.

Šis raksts ir veltīts sieviešu diskursa analīzei spāņu rakstnieces Karmenas Riko Godojas romānā “Cómo ser una mujer y no morir en el intento”. Darba mērķis ir analizēt, cik lielā mērā sievietes diskurss ir klātesošs Karmenas Riko Godojas romānā un kādas ir tam raksturīgas iezīmes. Kā teorētiskā bāze tiek izmantoti Visente Mateu un Visente Ruisa darbi un Amparo Tusona Valsa teorētiskā pieeja. Empīriskajā daļā ir aprakstīta sieviešu pasaule un viņu ikdiena, analizēts romāna galveno varoņu diskurss, lai parādītu atšķirību starp sievietes diskursu un vīrieša diskursu.
