State artillery in Lithuania in the seventeenth century was relatively neglected area of military and only from 1637 years it constituted a separate body. In the second half of the seventeenth century cannon in the arsenals of Lithuania were outdated and there were rarely works with new ones. During this period, it also struggled with the problem of its unification. In the Grand Duchy of Lithuania there was also a private artillery, and the law allowed anyone nobleman, if he could afford it, to have a cannon. This doctoral thesis in Communication Sciences offers to rethink the question of transmission of manual trades, in the context of contemporary craft industry in France. We analyse the classical dualism between “manual” and “nonmanual”, and go further with a theoretical approach of intelligence derived from Janet and Jousse. We also base our analysis on the studies about socialization, especially from Dubar, so we can involve a non-determinist model of transmitting manual crafts. This paper is a critical essay on the social value of craftsmen in ancient Greece as well of the merit and ethic responsibility connected to the social use of their skills and forms of knowledge, the so-called technai. On one hand a low grade of social consideration was attributed to craftsmen, especially among the upper classes in the Greek cities; on the other hand, craft and technical skills were an essential medium for all the material products and commodities to be supplied for the citizens.
