Ocena działania preparatu Solcoseryl u chorych po rekonstrukcjach naczyń z powodu krytycznego niedokrwienia kończyn dolnych
2002
Wstęp: Celem pracy była ocena skuteczności leczenia stosowanym dożylnie preparatem Solcoseryl u chorych po rekonstrukcjach naczyń z powodu krytycznego niedokrwienia kończyn dolnych i wyczerpaniu wszystkich możliwości dalszego leczenia chirurgicznego. Założono, że podawanie preparatu Solcoseryl chorym po udanej rekonstrukcji naczyniowej powoduje szybkie ustąpienie bólu i obrzęku, przyspieszenie gojenia się owrzodzeń i demarkację martwicy. Materiał i metody: Do badanej grupy zakwalifikowano 60 chorych leczonych operacyjnie z powodu krytycznego niedokrwienia kończyn dolnych. Średnia wieku wynosiła odpowiednio dla dwóch grup 59,2 i 57,8 roku. Badanie przeprowadzono metodą podwójnie ślepej próby…
Use of the directional atherectomy for the treatment of femoro-popliteal lesions in patients with critical lower limb ischemia
2016
Femoro-popliteal PTA for the treatment of critical limb ischemia is frequently associated with unsatisfactory procedural success rates while directional atherectomy (DCA) has improved success rate since claudicant patients undergoing percutaneous treatment of femoro-popliteal obstructive disease. The aim of this prospective study is to evaluate the safety, efficacy and procedural success of DCA, at one year, in the percutaneous treatment of femoro-popliteal obstructive disease in patients with critical limb ischemia.Methods. From March 2012 to March 2013 18 consecutive patients with critical limb ischemia were treated with DCA (Turbohawk/ Covidien-ev3 Endovascular Inc., North Plymouth, Minn…
Critical limb ischaemia: definition and natural hystory
2004
The term critical limb ischemia refers to a condition characterized by chronic ischemic at-rest pain, ulcers, or gangrene in one or both legs attributable to objectively proven arterial occlusive disease. Critical limb ischemia implies chronicity and is to be distinguished from acute limb ischemia. Its incidence is approximately 500 to 1000 per million year, with the highest rates among older subjects, smokers and diabetics. The rate of primary amputation ranges from 10% to 40%, and was performed only when no graftable distal vessels were present, or in neurologically impaired or hopelessly nonambulatory patients. Contrarily, in some highly specialized and aggressive centres about 90% of pa…
How do university students’ web search behavior, website characteristics, and the interaction of both influence students’ critical online reasoning?
2020
The Internet has become one of the main sources of information for university students’ learning. Since anyone can disseminate content online, however, the Internet is full of irrelevant, biased, or even false information. Thus, students’ ability to use online information in a critical-reflective manner is of crucial importance. In our study, we used a framework for the assessment of students’ critical online reasoning (COR) to measure university students’ ability to critically use information from online sources and to reason on contentious issues based on online information. In addition to analyzing students’ COR by evaluating their open-ended short answers, we also investigated the stude…
Existence of three solutions for a mixed boundary value system with (p_1,...,p_m)-Laplacian
2014
In this paper we prove the existence of at least three weak solutions for a mixed boundary value system with (p_1,,...,p_m)-Laplacian. The approach is based on variational methods.
Współczesna wojna - model klasyfikacyjny surowców krytycznych
2016
The paper adresses the problem of the list of critical raw materials for the European Union. The theoretical model of classification of the critical raw materials was presented. The presented model is based on two variables: index of the compatibility (substitutability index) and recycling index.
Towards a more efficient EFL reading comprehension classroom environment : The role of content and critical reading
2013
Traditional reading comprehension methods background the sometimes controversial content of texts in the interest of ‘ensuring comprehension’ via dealing with language points. According to Wallace (1992), EFL learners are often marginalized as readers; their goals in interacting with written texts are perceived to be primarily those of language learners. This study explores how a change in teaching approach via a CDA framework along with a change in reading content affects the EFL students’ perceptions of their reading comprehension classroom environment. Through a one-group pretest posttest design, the What Is Happening In This Class? (WIHIC) questionnaire was distributed twice among 41 (F…
Students evaluating Internet sources – From versatile evaluators to uncritical readers
2008
The Internet is a significant information resource for students due to the ease of access it allows to a vast amount of information. As the quality of the information on the Internet varies, it is important that students are able to evaluate such information critically. The aim of the study was to investigate how students evaluate Internet sources in an authentic learning task. Upper secondary school students ( n = 25) were asked to look for source material on the Internet in order to write an essay. They were asked to verbalize their thoughts during the material gathering process. Their verbalizations and actions on the Internet were recorded and analyzed. The five evaluation profiles eme…

Teaching master's degree students to read research literature
2017
The skill to read research literature critically belongs in every university graduate’s toolbox. I have attempted to teach this skill in a master’s degree level course in programming languages over 15 years using, at various times, simulated conferences, voluntary reading exercises, evidence-based practice training, and a flipped classroom with mandatory reading assignments. I discuss my experience and analyze preliminary qualitative data on the use of evidence-based practice and a flipped classroom for this purpose. I present no firm conclusions, but expect that future work (by me or others) will be able to use my experience as a baseline for better teaching of research literature reading.…
