Non-homogeneous Dirichlet problems with concave-convex reaction

2022

The variational methods are adopted for establishing the existence of at least two nontrivial solutions for a Dirichlet problem driven by a non-homogeneous differential operator of p-Laplacian type. A large class of nonlinear terms is considered, covering the concave-convex case. In particular, two positive solutions to the problem are obtained under a (p -1)-superlinear growth at infinity, provided that a behaviour less than (p -1)-linear of the nonlinear term in a suitable set is requested.

Solutions with sign information for nonlinear Robin problems with no growth restriction on reaction

2019

We consider a parametric nonlinear Robin problem driven by a nonhomogeneous differential operator. The reaction is a Carathéodory function which is only locally defined (that is, the hypotheses concern only its behaviour near zero). The conditions on the reaction are minimal. Using variational tools together with truncation, perturbation and comparison techniques and critical groups, we show that for all small values of the parameter λ > 0, the problem has at least three nontrivial smooth solutions, two of constant sign and the third nodal.

Criteri per l’analisi post-danno – Criteria for post-damage analysis.

2010

Course Satisfaction in Engineering Education Through the Lens of Student Agency Analytics

2020

This Research Full Paper presents an examination of the relationships between course satisfaction and student agency resources in engineering education. Satisfaction experienced in learning is known to benefit the students in many ways. However, the varying significance of the different factors of course satisfaction is not entirely clear. We used a validated questionnaire instrument, exploratory statistics, and supervised machine learning to examine how the different factors of student agency affect course satisfaction among engineering students (N = 293). Teacher’s support and trust for the teacher were identified as both important and critical factors concerning experienced course satisf…

Under the magnifying glass: critical moments in virtual exchange

2022

Virtual Exchange (VE) is a form of experiential learning that relies heavily on learning-by-doing and reflection. The present study draws on visual data comprising students’ perceptions of critical learning incidents presented under an imaginary magnifying glass. To complete this project-closing reflective activity, the students had to describe a critical moment that they had experienced during VE and present it in a visual form. Data was collected longitudinally, in three projects (2019, 2020, and 2021) that followed the same pedagogical design and focused on the theme of tourism. The collaborating universities were from three countries: Poland, Finland, and the Netherlands. We used the me…

Libanios, Discours. XI. Antiochicos. - Texte établi et traduit par M. Casevitz et O. Lagacherie. Notes complémentaires de C. Saliou - Paris : Les Bel…

2018

Review of the volume in the prestigious Collection des Universités de France, and which presents the first complete French translation of the Libanius' oration XI. The text is established and translated by Michel and Odile Lagacherie. Catherine Saliou wrote the complementary commentary notes and the presentation of the discourse in the introduction to the text, with the exception of the part concerning the manuscript tradition, which was edited by Casevitz.

Developing a narrative of worth through participation in critical youth program in Wilmington, Delaware

2017

Positive relationships and having a counterspace can help marginalized youth develop a more positive sense of self and their lives as well as encourage them to promote justice in society. Challenging the youth with an employment program can help them create beneficial goals for their lives and work towards the benefit of others. The purpose of this study was to find whether critical youth work can support the youth to develop a critical consciousness and willingness to fight against oppression. The research examined the Streetleaders program in the lives of marginalized youth in the city of Wilmington, Delaware, the US. This qualitative research was built with eight open-ended interviews, c…

Stationary sets and asymptotic behavior of the mean curvature flow with forcing in the plane

2020

We consider the flat flow solutions of the mean curvature equation with a forcing term in the plane. We prove that for every constant forcing term the stationary sets are given by a finite union of disks with equal radii and disjoint closures. On the other hand for every bounded forcing term tangent disks are never stationary. Finally in the case of an asymptotically constant forcing term we show that the only possible long time limit sets are given by disjoint unions of disks with equal radii and possibly tangent. peerReviewed

Stationary sets of the mean curvature flow with a forcing term

2020

We consider the flat flow approach for the mean curvature equation with forcing in an Euclidean space $\mathbb R^n$ of dimension at least 2. Our main results states that tangential balls in $\mathbb R^n$ under any flat flow with a bounded forcing term will experience fattening, which generalizes the result by Fusco, Julin and Morini from the planar case to higher dimensions. Then, as in the planar case, we are able to characterize stationary sets in $\mathbb R^n$ for a constant forcing term as finite unions of equisized balls with mutually positive distance.
