Effects of confinement level, cross-section shape and corner radius on the cyclic behavior of CFRCM confined concrete columns
2014
Abstract The main results of an experimental research aiming to investigate the behavior of medium-size low-strength concrete columns wrapped with Carbon Fiber Reinforced Cementitious Matrix (CFRCM) under monotonic and cyclic compressive axial loads are presented. Thirty columns with circular, square and rectangular cross-sections were tested under monotonic and cyclic axial loads to investigate the effect of the confinement level, the cross-section shape and the corner radius on the stiffness, strength, and ductility of CFRCM confined concrete columns under cyclic loads. The results prove that CFRCM confining jackets provide substantial gain in compressive strength, deformability and absor…
Limits on spin-dependent WIMP-nucleon cross sections from 225 live days of XENON100 data
2013
We present new experimental constraints on the elastic, spin-dependent WIMP-nucleon cross section using recent data from the XENON100 experiment, operated in the Laboratori Nazionali del Gran Sasso in Italy. An analysis of 224.6 live days x 34 kg of exposure acquired during 2011 and 2012 revealed no excess signal due to axial-vector WIMP interactions with 129-Xe and 131-Xe nuclei. This leads to the most stringent upper limits on WIMP-neutron cross sections for WIMP masses above 6 GeV, with a minimum cross section of 3.5 x 10^{-40} cm^2 at a WIMP mass of 45 GeV, at 90% confidence level.
Production of a tensor glueball in the reaction γγ → G2π0 at large momentum transfer
2018
Abstract We study the production of a tensor glueball in the reaction γ γ → G 2 π 0 . We compute the cross section at higher momentum transfer using the collinear factorisation approach. We find that for a value of the tensor gluon coupling of f g T ∼ 100 MeV, the cross section can be measured in the near future by the Belle II experiment.
A quantitative assessment of the effect of distributor type on particle circulation
1997
Abstract Garncarek's quantitative index of inhomogeneity has been used to compare the effect of distributor type on the degree of uniformity of solids mixing in a gas-fluidized bed assessed by following a tracer particle using the technique of Positron Emission Particle Tracking. The bed was a sand of 475 μm diameter fluidized at 2 U mf and contained within a column of 150 mm diameter. A porous and perforated plate distributor are compared. The index shows that tracer locations are generally more homogeneously distributed throughout the vertical section of the bed with the porous plate distributor. Behaviour varies with height and horizontal sections of the bed show that there is little dif…
