Relativistic Effects and the Role of Heavy Meson Exchange in Deuteron Photodisintegration

Relativistic effects and the role of heavy meson exchange in deuteron photodisintegration are studied systematically for photon energies below the pion production threshold. In a (p/M)-expansion, all leading order relativistic one-body and pi-exchange as well as all static heavy meson exchange currents consistent with the Bonn OBEPQ model are included. In addition, one- and two-body boost effects have been investigated. Sizeable effects from the various two-body contributions beyond pi-exchange have been found in almost every observable considered, i.e., differential cross section and single polarization observables.
Electron Angular Distribution in Laser-Assisted X-ray Photoeffect

Calculations are reported of the differential cross section of the laser-assisted X-ray photoeffect from K shells showing that drastic changes occur in the shape of the ejected-electron angular distribution when laser photons are exchanged during the ionisation. This process appears well suited to the study of laser effects and multiphoton exchanges in laser-assisted atomic collisions.

Threshold Neutral Pion Photoproduction on the Proton

The neutral pion photoproduction on the proton near threshold has a very small scattering cross section when compared to the charged channels, which in ChPT is explained by strong cancellations between the lowest order pieces. Therefore it is very sensitive to higher-order corrections of chiral perturbation theory. We perform a fully covariant calculation up to chiral order p^3 and we investigate the effect of the inclusion of the Delta(1232) resonance as an explicit degree of freedom. We show that the convergence improves, leading to a much better agreement with data at a wide range of energies.
Top-quark mass measurements using jet rates at LHC

This work presents a new method to measure the top-quark mass in hadronic collisions[1]. The method uses the sensitivity of the tt̄ + 1-jet production on the top-quark mass. In detail we study the ℛ distribution defined as the tt̄ + 1-jet normalized cross section differential in the invariant mass of the total system and calculated at NLO accuracy. We prove that the ℛ distribution has a high sensitivity to the top-quark mass. Furthermore we investigate and quantify the impact of the dominant theoretical and experimental uncertainties. The study aimed to examine the association between self-assessment of attractiveness and life satisfaction in women, where age was a potential moderator of this relationship. A cross-sectional study of 360 women aged 18 to 89 was performed. Participants assessed their overall attractiveness, the attractiveness of their individual body parts, and their life satisfaction. The relationship between the assessment of attractiveness of particular body parts and life satisfaction depended on age.
