Fracture resistance after implantoplasty in three implant-abutment connection designs
2020
Background To assess the effect of implantoplasty and implant-abutment design on the fracture resistance and macroscopic morphology of narrow-diameter (3.5 mm) dental implants. Material and Methods Screw-shaped titanium dental implants (n = 48) were studied in vitro. Three groups (n = 16) were established, based on implant-abutment connection type: external hexagon, internal hexagon and conical. Eight implants from each group were subjected to an implantoplasty procedure; the remaining 8 implants served as controls. Implant wall thickness was recorded. All samples were subjected to a static strength test. Results The mean wall thickness reductions varied between 106.46 and 153.75 µm. The me…
Influence of material and diameter of pre-fabricated posts on maxillary central incisors restored with crown.
2009
Summary Numerous research works have studied the effect of post-design parameters on the mechanical behaviour of restored teeth without reaching any clear conclusions. Previous works by the authors ascertained the effect of material and post-dimensions for non-crowned restored teeth. The aim of this work was to study the effect of post-material and diameter for crowned teeth. First, an experimental fracture strength test was performed on eighteen extracted human maxillary central incisors. Teeth were decoronated, treated endodontically and restored (nine with glass fibre posts and nine with stainless steel posts). Several post-diameters were used. The final crown restoration was carried ou…
What can we do with a dental avulsion? A multidisciplinary Clinical Protocol
2020
Purpose The aim of this case report was to explain a multidisciplinary and conservative approach carrying out the replantation of an avulsed closed apex central incisor stored in dry conditions for a 16-hour period from the moment of trauma. Case report This report describes a case of a 28 year-old male who suffered contusion of the upper lip, avulsion of right upper central incisor, enamel cracks after trauma of left upper central incisor and upper left lateral incisor crown fracture due to an accident. Avulsed tooth was dry stored and it was replanted 16h after the trauma. The root was disinfected and the necrotic periodontal tissue removed, the endodontic treatment was done before replan…
Three steps to maintain predictable interdental papilla and gingiva emergence profiles in immediate implant placement. A 3-year follow-up case report
2018
We present a case that describes a three-step clinical technique to provide guidelines to replace fractured teeth with immediate implant placement using the same dental structure as a temporary crown and a regenerative approach. This approach predictably maintains the interdental papilla and gingiva emergence profile to ensure a favorable cosmetic result. A 3-year follow-up has shown good clinical outcomes and stability in crestal bone levels. Consequently, this is an innovative way to do temporary crown and design restorations in everyday clinical practice. Key words:Interdental papilla, dental implant, inmmediate implant, gingival aesthetics, dental aesthetics.

An In Vitro Stereomicroscopic Evaluation of Bioactivity between Neo MTA Plus, Pro Root MTA, BIODENTINE & Glass Ionomer Cement Using Dye Penetrati…
2021
The ideal root end filling material should form a tight seal in the root canal by adhering to the cavity walls. Several materials have been used for root end filling. The present study aims to find out and compare the bioactivity of Neo MTA Plus, Pro Root MTA White, BIODENTINE & glass ionomer cement as root end filling materials using 1% methylene blue as tracer. Materials and methods: 80 extracted human permanent maxillary anterior teeth were used in the study. They were divided into four groups. Specimens were sectioned transversely in the cervical area to separate the crown from the root. The root canal was obturated with gutta percha and zinc oxide eugenol sealers. Thereafter, each …
Chlorophyll content mapping of urban vegetation in the city of Valencia based on the hyperspectral NAOC index
2014
Abstract: Spatially distributed chlorophyll content of urban vegetation provides an important indicator of a plant's health status, which might depend on the habitat quality of the specific urban environment. Recent advances in optical remote sensing led to improved methodologies to monitor vegetation properties. The hyperspectral index NAOC (Normalized Area Over reflectance Curve) is one of these new tools that can be used for mapping chlorophyll content. In this paper we present the work done to quantify vegetation chlorophyll content over the city of Valencia (Spain) based on chlorophyll measurements of four representative tree species: the London plane tree (Platanus x. acerifolia), the…
Zirconia in fixed prosthesis. A literature review
2014
Statement of problem: Evidence is limited on the efficacy of zirconia-based fixed dental prostheses. Objective: To carry out a literature review of the behavior of zirconium oxide dental restorations. Material and Methods: This literature review searched the Pubmed, Scopus, Medline and Cochrane Library databases using key search words “zirconium oxide,” “zirconia,” “non-metal restorations,” “ceramic oxides,” “veneering ceramic,” “zirconia-based fixed dental prostheses”. Both in vivo and in vitro studies into zirconia-based prosthodontic restoration behavior were included. Results: Clinical studies have revealed a high rate of fracture for porcelain-veneered zirconia-based restorations that …
Vertical preparation for fixed prosthesis rehabilitation in the anterior sector
2015
This clinical report describes a biologically oriented preparation technique (BOPT) for teeth and an implant for the esthetic rehabilitation of the maxillary anterior sector. The technique was designed to create an anatomic crown with a prosthetic emergence profile that simulated the shape of the natural tooth.
Restore the natural: a review and case series report on reattachment
2014
Reattachment of the original tooth fragment to the fractured tooth helps in maintaining the tooth’s color, wear resistance, morphology and translucency in the restoration. This article describes the reattachment of fractured fragment using a fiber post and dual cure resin cement with a self-etching adhesive. Two young male patients reported with a complicated crown fracture of the right maxillary central incisor due a road traffic accident. The fractured fragments were loosely attached to the palatal gingival tissue, which was then surgically removed and preserved for the reattachment procedure. The fractured tooth segments were successfully reattached following fiber post cementation. Toot…
