Zirconia Removable Telescopic Dentures Retained on Teeth or Implants for Maxilla Rehabilitation. Three-Year Observation of Three Cases

Abstract This report addresses maxillary restoration with removable telescopic crown-retained palatal free dentures. One patient with 7 natural teeth (PERIO), a second patient with 6 dental implants (IMPL), and a third patient with 2 natural teeth and 4 dental implants (IMPL-PERIO) were treated. Zirconia copings for natural teeth and individual zirconia implant abutments were fabricated in CAD/CAM and used as primary crowns. Electroformed gold copings were used as secondary telescopes. All maxilla supraconstructions were fabricated with zirconia and CAD/CAM. Influence of a Cu–zirconia interface structure on CO2 adsorption and activation

CO2 adsorption and activation on a catalyst are key elementary steps for CO2 conversion to various valuable products. In the present computational study, we screened different Cu–ZrO2 interface structures and analyzed the influence of the interface structure on CO2 binding strength using density functional theory calculations. Our results demonstrate that a Cu nanorod favors one position on both tetragonal and monoclinic ZrO2 surfaces, where the bottom Cu atoms are placed close to the lattice oxygens. In agreement with previous calculations, we find that CO2 prefers a bent bidentate configuration at the Cu–ZrO2 interface and the molecule is clearly activated being negatively charged. Strain…

Osseointegration of one-piece zirconia implants compared with a titanium implant of identical design: a histomorphometric study in the dog

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate osseointegration of one-piece zirconia vs. titanium implants depending on their insertion depth by histomorphometry. Material and methods: Four one-piece implants of identical geometry were inserted on each side of six mongrel dogs: (1) an uncoated zirconia implant, (2) a zirconia implant coated with a calcium-liberating titanium oxide coating, (3) a titanium implant and (4) an experimental implant made of a synthetic material (polyetheretherketone). Zirconia Based Nanomaterials for Oxygen Sensors – Generation, Characterisation and Optical Properties

Microwave driven hydrothermal synthesis and hydrothermal synthesis were used to obtain ZrO2 nanopowders. Their production with varying phase composition, the characterisation and selected optical properties concerning their potential use as luminescence oxygen sensors are reported. It was found that the powders obtained by the microwave driven hydrothermal method and annealed at 750 0C in air show experiment repeatability within an accuracy of 6 %.

THz nanocrystal acoustic vibrations from ZrO2 3D supercrystals

International audience; We report sharp low-frequency Raman spectral features of supercrystals synthesized via the "benzyl alcohol route" and consisting of either yttrium-stabilized or pure zirconia (ZrO2) nanocrystals. In situ formed benzoate species control the nanocrystal growth and act as organic glue leading to the assembly of the nanocrystals in highly ordered 3D supercrystals. We attribute some Raman peaks to THz acoustic vibrations of individual nanocrystals which are only weakly coupled due to the strong acoustic mismatch between the capping ligands and the nanocrystals. Mechanical behavior of single-layer ceramized zirconia abutments for dental implant prosthetic rehabilitation

Objectives: This study was undertaken to characterize the mechanical response of bare (as-received) and single-layer ceramized zirconia abutments with both internal and external connections that have been developed to enhanced aesthetic restorations. Material and Methods: Sixteen zirconia implant abutments (ZiReal Post®, Biomet 3i, USA) with internal and external connections have been analyzed. Abstract The oxidation of zirconium alloy Zy-4 is due to an anionic diffusion of oxygen leading to the formation of an oxide layer of zirconia. According to the Pilling and Bedworth ratio of the Zr/ZrO 2 system, the oxide scale is under compressive stresses. Large scale synthesis of nanostructured zirconia-based compounds from freeze-dried precursors

Nanocrystalline zirconia powders have been obtained at the multigram scale by thermal decomposition of precursors resulting from the freeze-drying of aqueous acetic solutions. This technique has equally made possible to synthesize a variety of nanostructured yttria or scandia doped zirconia compositions. SEM images, as well as the analysis of the XRD patterns, show the nanoparticulated character of those solids obtained at low temperature, with typical particle size in the 10–15 nm range when prepared at 673 K. V-containing ZrO 2 inorganic yellow nano-pigments prepared by hydrothermal approach

Abstract Recent results on the preparation, characterization and color properties of the V-containing ZrO 2 inorganic yellow nano-pigment are reported. A series of monoclinic V-ZrO 2 solid solution nanocrystals (V x Zr 1-x O 2 , being x = 0, 0.1, 0.02, 0.03, 0.04, 0.05, 0.065, 0.08 and 0.1) were prepared straightforward by hydrothermal processing of mixtures of zirconyl nitrate and ammonium metavanadate in water.
