TECNOLOGIE E STRATEGIE PER LA VALORIZZAZIONE DEI BENI CULTURALI E ARCHEOLOGICI - Technologies et stratégies pour la promotion du patrimoine culturel …

2014

2. Stato dell’arte e riferime…

Objectives pursued and achieved Conjectural reconstruction achieved the following results: • formulation of analytical documents which show how the planimetric and altimetric articulation are perfectly consistent with the functional program• definition of the level of uncertainty1. Brief description of the object of study The competition of the Palace of Justice in Rome takes place in four phases between 1884 and 1887. The project for the first competition in 1884 drawn up by the then very young Ernesto Basile (Palermo 1857-1932) reveals a great deal of design expertise that transforms the complex functional program into an austere building in neo-florentine style. The original drawings of the building not realized kept in the Basile Endowment of the Department of Architecture of the University of Palermo have been the subject of preliminary study to the phases of analysis interpretation and conceptual reconstruction of the digital model. 2. State of the art and main bibliographical references The conjectural reconstruction on the basis of drawings and archival documents is a well-established and codified practice thanks to various disciplinary contributions at national and international level. The Problematic of Conceptualizing a European Cultural Heritage

2016

The idea of a common European cultural heritage is frequently referred to in the political discourses and practices of the EU. The idea of a European cultural heritage elevates the ideas of ownership and inheritance beyond the local, regional, or national frameworks and transforms the heritage sites and objects into a ‘common good’ belonging to all Europeans and into a source of a common European cultural identity. Scholars have debated the possibility of a common European cultural heritage, and in case such could exist, what it could be grounded upon. Critical scholars have asked what might be the trans-border European dimension of heritage that goes beyond the mere sum of national, region…

Strategy to re-active an urban landscape

2018

To re-activate an urban landscape, through a complex system of relationships, needs a goal: trigger a course of identification based on cultural heritage like an “ID card”. To do this, without losing the historical common memory, culture doesn’t have to be only for the “elite” but has to begin the raw nerve of the development. When Kevin Lynch wrote about wayfinding, it was not for tourists but for inhabitants whom daily live in that place: the field of “orientation” was essential for him like it was for Camillo Sitte. This theorist of urban planning (not fully understood) said that “the space and the city are important if they are active” and Wieczorek explains that “active” means the rule…

Cultural heritage through history and nature: conservation and re-use. The Scicli case study

2013

The research originates from a relationship between a local body of illustrious traditions and a research facility of the University of Palermo – the Interdepartmental Research Centre on Historical Centres (hereafter C.I.R.CE.S.), that has the aim of providing consultancy and scientific support to the initiatives of territorial bodies concerning policies and urban and territorial redevelopment plans and the redevelopment of historical centres. Scicli is one of the most important towns belonging to the province of Ragusa.
The urban centre, in addition to being able to boast a special identity deriving from the peculiar impact of the dazzling baroque architectures on the surrounding landscap…
