Monte-Carlo Study of Pure-Phase Cumulants of 2D q-State Potts Models

We performed Monte Carlo simulations of the two-dimensional q-state Potts model with q=10, 15, and 20 to study the energy and magnetization cumulants in the ordered and disordered phase at the first-order transition point $\beta_t$. By using very large systems of size 300 x 300, 120 x 120, and 80 x 80 for q=10, 15, and 20, respectively, our numerical estimates provide practically (up to unavoidable, but very small statistical errors) exact results which can serve as a useful test of recent resummed large-q expansions for the energy cumulants by Bhattacharya `et al.' Multiharmonic Correlations of Different Flow Amplitudes in Pb-Pb Collisions at ...

The event-by-event correlations between three flow amplitudes are measured for the first time in Pb-Pb collisions, using higher-order symmetric cumulants. We find that different three-harmonic correlations develop during the collective evolution of the medium when compared to correlations that exist in the initial state. These new results cannot be interpreted in terms of previous lower-order flow measurements since contributions from two-harmonic correlations are explicitly removed in the new observables. A comparison to Monte Carlo simulations provides new and independent constraints for the initial conditions and system properties of nuclear matter created in heavy-ion collisions. © 2021…
Are the Angular Correlations in pA Collisions due to a Glasmion or Bose Condensation ?

Experiments at the LHC have recently reported results on the angular asymmetry coefficients $v_n[m]$, for various angular moments $n$ and orders of cumulants $m$, in high multiplicity p+Pb collisions. These coefficients are large, and have both even and odd moments. We discuss here some of the implications of these results for our understanding of the initial state of the collision (Color Glass Condensate) and for the evolution in the final state (Glasma and thermalized Quark Gluon Plasma). We show the Color Glass Condensate predicts large even moments, $v_n$ with $n$ an even integer. Odd moments are generated by final state interactions or fragmentation. Melting transition in two dimensions: A finite-size scaling analysis of bond-orientational order in hard disks

We describe a general and efficient method, based on computer simulations and applicable to a general class of fluids, that allows us to determine (i) bounds on the transition densities of the melting transition that are valid in the thermodynamic limit and (ii) the order of the phase transition. The bond-orientational order parameter, its susceptibility, and the compressibility are measured simulataneously on many length scales, and the latter two quantities are extrapolated to the thermodynamic limit by application of the subblock analysis method of finite-size scaling. Investigations of Anisotropic Flow Using Multiparticle Azimuthal Correlations in pp , p−Pb , Xe-Xe, and Pb-Pb Collisions at the LHC

Measurements of anisotropic flow coefficients (vn) and their cross-correlations using two- and multiparticle cumulant methods are reported in collisions of pp at √s=13 TeV, p−Pb at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair √sNN=5.02 TeV, Xe-Xe at √sNN=5.44 TeV, and Pb-Pb at √sNN=5.02 TeV recorded with the ALICE detector. The multiplicity dependence of vn is studied in a very wide range from 20 to 3000 particles produced in the midrapidity region |η| v3>v4 is found in pp and p−Pb collisions, similar to that seen in large collision systems, while a weak v2 multiplicity dependence is observed relative to nucleus-nucleus collisions in the same multiplicity range. Measurements of mixed harmonic cumulants in Pb–Pb collisions at sNN=5.02 TeV

Correlations between moments of different flow coefficients are measured in Pb–Pb collisions at sNN=5.02 TeV recorded with the ALICE detector. These new measurements are based on multiparticle mixed harmonic cumulants calculated using charged particles in the pseudorapidity region |η|<0.8 with the transverse momentum range 0.2<pT<5.0 GeV/c. The centrality dependence of correlations between two flow coefficients as well as the correlations between three flow coefficients, both in terms of their second moments, are shown. We derive explicit expressions for arbitrary moments and quantiles of the posterior distribution of the location parameter η in the normal location model with Laplace prior, and use the results to approximate the posterior distribution of sums of independent copies of η.
SPECTRAL ANALYSIS WITH TAPERED DATA

. A new method based on an upper bound for spectral windows is presented for investigating the cumulants of time series statistics. Using this method two classical results are proved for tapered data. In particular, the asymptotic normality for a class of spectral estimates including estimates for the spectral function and the covariance function is proved under integrability conditions on the spectra using the method of cumulants.

In high-energy collisions, the spatio-temporal size of the particle production region can be measured using the Bose-Einstein correlations of identical bosons at low relative momentum. The source radii are typically extracted using two-pion correlations, and characterize the system at the last stage of interaction, called kinetic freeze-out. In low-multiplicity collisions, unlike in high-multiplicity collisions, two-pion correlations are substantially altered by background correlations, e.g. mini-jets.
