Comparative Analysis of Mega Road Construction Projects in Term of Innovation

Purpose This paper examines, using critical realism, the causes and mechanisms of innovation in three civil road construction projects. Its focus is to examine how value can be created within the design process through innovation. Emphasis is placed on Best Value Procurement (BVP) as a procurement strategy where the preferred contractor is considered the expert, as it is the first case of its use in Norwegian road construction projects. Data was collected through surveys and interviews. Findings indicate that procurement using early involvement is innovative in the design process yet must be adapted, to allow for early planning of innovative ideas that help, to foster innovative solutions. …

How to prevent cyber-attacks in inter-vehicle communication network?

In this work, we aim to secure communication in a vehicular network by providing a proactive mechanism that can detect and predict with a high accuracy the future behavior of malicious attacker. In fact, the mechanisms proposed in the literature consider only detection mechanisms and do not prevent attacks that may arise in the network. Simulation results show that our mechanism has a high detection rate, low false positive rate while generating a low communication overhead.

To determine whether a nontoxic derivative of pertussis toxin obtained by recombinant DNA technology, PT-9K/129G, is a good candidate for a new pertussis vaccine, we examined the safety and the immunogenicity in children of a vaccine containing 15 micrograms of PT-9K/129G protein and 0.5 mg of aluminum hydroxide per dose. Fifty-three children 12 to 24 months of age and 21 infants aged 2 to 4 months were injected with two and three doses, respectively. The vaccine did not induce significant local or systemic reactions and elicited an increase of antibody titer in more than 98% of the children. In the course of its history, the Musee des Ursulines, at Macon, collected about 10 bronze figurines, some of them found as early as the mid-17th c. This article describes this largely unpublished collection and its scientific implications. Among the new data appears a votive bronze statuette, of italic type, found locally and datable to the Vth-IVth c. BC.

Une troisième fouille, dans un même secteur au centre du village de Fleurey-sur-Ouche, a pu compléter les informations déjà récoltées suite aux différentes opérations menées depuis 2015. La fouille, sur une surface de 2 745 m2, a mis au jour une occupation dense, constituée principalement de structures en creux pour la première phase du Moyen Âge central ; la seconde phase est, elle, matérialisée par des bâtiments dotés de caves, remblayées, selon les premières observations, au XIIIe s.

The French criminal law is characterised by a willingness to prevent recidivism. To give concrete expression to this will, security measures are implemented among which the secure detention. However, the secure detention is not an ordinary measure and gives rises to many debates which, in fact, take up old and recurrent controversies. This measure is based on the assumption that sexual and/or violent criminals show a disease which may suggest a risk of a second offence.
