Background Interventional treatment of chronic total coronary occlusions (CTOs) is a developing subspecialty. Predictors of technical success or failure have been derived from datasets of modest size. A robust scoring tool could facilitate case selection and inform decision making. Low intensity magnetic field influences short-term memory: A study in a group of healthy students

This study analyzes if an external magnetic stimulus (2 kHz and approximately 0.1 μT applied near frontal cortex) influences working memory, perception, binary decision, motor execution, and sustained attention in humans. A magnetic stimulus and a sham stimulus were applied to both sides of the head (frontal cortex close to temporal-parietal area) in young and healthy male test subjects (n = 65) while performing Sternberg's memory scanning task. There was a significant change in reaction time. Times recorded for perception, sustained attention, and motor execution were lower in exposed subjects (P < 0.01). Introduction: Basic self-reports of physical activity (PA) has been applied by clinicians to identify whether adolescents with asthma are physically active. Aim: To investigate whether basic self-reports of PA in adolescents with and without asthma can be used as an indicator of PA with objective measures as criterion. After early operation in 49 patients and delayed operation in 114 patients, all with acute hemorrhagic-necrotizing pancreatitis, 65% of patients developed local or general complications. Local complications were abscesses, peritonitis, bleeding, gastrointestinal fistulae or stenoses, and external pancreatic fistulae. Their cause can be traced to the large wound cavity with the tryptic wound surface as well as residual necrosis. The general postoperative complications were shock, acute renal failure, cardiorespiratory insufficiency, gastrointestinal bleeding, ileus, coagulopathy, and sepsis. The aim of this study was to investigate whether LPR could play a role in the persistence of some LNS after total thyroidectomy (TT). Methods A consecutive case series of 160 patients with multinodular goiter (MNG) candidate for TT were included in this study.
