Cutinases: Characteristics and Insights in Industrial Production

Cutinases (EC 3.1.1.74) are serin esterases that belong to the α/β hydrolases superfamily and present in the Ser-His-Asp catalytic triad. They show characteristics between esterases and lipases. These enzymes hydrolyze esters and triacylglycerols and catalyze esterification and transesterification reactions. Cutinases are synthesize by plant pathogenic fungi, but some bacteria and plants have been found to produce cutinases as well. In nature they facilitate a pathogen’s invasion by hydrolyzing the cuticle that protects plants, but can be also used for saprophytic fungi as a way to nourish themselves. Nota alla sentenza del Tribunale Roma, sezione II, del 15 marzo 2011, per la quale, in caso di mancato o tardivo recepimento di una direttiva comunitaria, lo Stato è contrattualmente responsabile per inadempimento di un'obbligazione legale di natura indennitaria per attività non antigiuridica. La sentenza e il commento affrontano le diverse interpretazioni possibili sull'applicabilità della prescrizione del diritto al risarcimento del danno al caso dei medici specializzatisi prima della trasposizione della direttiva, con la quale si è previsto in loro favore il diritto ad un'adeguata remunerazione.

Abstract The number of free and bound hydroxyl and carboxyl groups of the cutin of Quercus suber leaves was investigated by the lithium borohydride hydrogenolysis of mesyl-cutin compared with the lithium borohydride hydrogenolysis of untreated cutin. Fifty per cent of the vic -diol groups of the trihydroxy C 18 acid component and twenty five per cent of the secondary hydroxyl groups of the dihydroxy C 16 acid component are free. The rest of the secondary and all of the primary hydroxyl groups are esterified; all carboxyl groups are esterified.

In this chapter the main issues concerning legal effects of international legal rules in domestic orders are examined in a systematic way. This investigation is underpinned by the following five pillars. First, the idea that States are not bound by international obligations in this respect. Second, that despite the persistent (albeit limited) importance of formal models of incorporation of international law into domestic law, a central role is played by domestic courts, with particular regard to the identification of self-"executing" rules.
