The zooplankton taxa and their seasonal distribution are describeb for Loch Rusky, a shallow oligotrophic lake in the central region of Scotland. 15 species were indentified: 11 Rotifera, 2 Cladocera and 2 Copepoda. Only 5 species Polyarthra remata, Keratella cochlearis, Filinia terminalis, Trichocerca sp. and Eudiaptomus gracilis occurred in sufficient numbers to facilitate a description of their seasonal pattern. The annual zooplankton variation was dominated by rotifers for most of the year, but copepods (E. gracilis, Cyclops sp.) only were dominant in the epilimnion during summer. Long-standing taxonomic problems involving the Acanthocyclops robustus–vernalis complex of freshwater cyclopoids have not been resolved. After Kiefer's designation of A. robustus Sars as an older synonym of Acanthocycops americanus Marsh, a lot of data indicating their differentiation have been accumulated. However, based on the available literature, Mongolian inland waters appear to be characterised by a high biodiversity, including some taxa still waiting to be described. Novel data on the branchiopod, copepod, and ostracod crustaceans from central Mongolian steppe, from the “Tuul” and “Umard goviin guveet-Khalhiin” hydrographical basins, are presented herein. The first two cases of naturalization of <i>Acacia cyclops</i> are reported for Italy. Young trees were observed growing in the wild some 15 years ago on Linosa (Pelagie Islands, Strait of Sicily). A decade later, this alien plant should no longer be considered as a casual, since a very intensive process of self-sown regeneration has been observed in some plantations on Lampedusa, the major island of the same Archipelago.
