This article examines L2 learners’ multimodal literacy practices during two university-level Finnish as a second language courses. My focus is on the students’ use of microblogs as a learning tool. This article examines children’s multimodal literacy practices in an indigenous Sámi language classroom in Northern Finland, with a speci$ c focus on multimodal picture books designed by the pupils. The position of the Sámi languages in people’s linguistic repertoires has changed dramatically during the past 60 years as they have turned into endangered languages with only few speakers. Consequently, there is very little printed material available and therefore few established literacy practices. Tutkimuksessa selvitettiin luokanopettajien itsearvioinneissaan ilmaisemaa empaattisuuden tasoa ja sitä, eroavatko naiset ja miehet toisistaan empatian suhteen. Lisäksi tutkittiin opettajien työssään kokemaa myötätuntouupumusta, joka tässä tutkimuksessa koostuu työuupumuksesta ja sekundaarista traumaattisesta stressistä, sekä myötätuntotyytyväisyyttä. Tutkimuksessa selvitettiin myös empatian yhteyttä näihin ilmiöihin. Taustatekijät (sukupuoli, työssäolovuodet, työmäärä, lomautus) huomioitiin ilmiöiden tarkastelussa. Käsittelen tässä tutkielmassa paikallisuuden representoitumista elintarvikemainoksista sekä teksteistä ilmeneviä paikallisuuden diskursseja. Tutkimuskysymykseni ovat: 1) Millaisia paikallisuusdiskursseja mainoksissa rakentuu? ja 2) Miten paikallisuutta ilmaistaan mainoksissa kielellisesti ja multimodaalisesti? Motivic Pattern Extraction in Music, and Application to the Study of Tunisian Modal Music

A new methodology for automated extraction of repeated patterns in time-series data is presented, aimed in particular at the analysis of musical sequences. The basic principles consists in a search for closed patterns in a multi-dimensional parametric space. It is shown that this basic mechanism needs to be articulated with a periodic pattern discovery system, implying therefore a strict chronological scanning of the time-series data. Thanks to this modelling global pattern filtering may be avoided and rich and highly pertinent results can be obtained. Tangible technologies provide interactive links between the physical and digital worlds, thereby merging the benefits of physical and virtual manipulatives. To explore the potentials of tangible technologies for learning linear equations, a tangible manipulative (TM) was designed and developed. A prototype of the initial TM was implemented and evaluated using mixed methods (i.e., classroom interventions, paper-based tests, thinking aloud sessions, questionnaires, and interviews) in real classroom settings. Background and aims: Use of direct acting antivirals (DAAs) has allowed to clear HCV in almost all patients even in the presence of advanced cirrhosis. Although it has been suggested that cirrhotic portal hypertension may regress after SVR, the ultimate effect of HCV clearance on the development and progression of oesophagogastric varices (OV) is still unexplored. We assessed in a prospective cohort of patients with cirrhosis the evolution of endoscopic features of portal hypertension induced by SVR obtained with DAAs.
