DENN, EIGENTLICH, ÜBERHAUPT - THREE “PRAGMATIC PARTICLES” IN GERMAN

A peculiarity of the German language is the extensive use of “pragmatic particles” in spoken language. These particles are generally called Abtönungspartikel (“modulating particles”) and are used to modulate the speaker’s attitude. They have an elusive meaning which is quite difficult for non-native speakers to discern, and they are a challenge to translate into Italian due to the lack of equivalents. Pseudoarrhenotoky is characterized by obligate fertilization and differential inactivation and/or elimination of paternal chromosomes in embryos that develop into males. 1800-luvun lopussa tilastotiede kehittyi ja itsemurhia ryhdyttiin systemaattisesti kirjaamaan eri instansseihin. Itsemurhia tehtiin ja niistä käytiin julkista keskustelua kiihtyvään tahtiin. Asenteet itsemurhaa kohtaan olivat murrostilassa. Aikalaiset suhtautuivat tekoon ristiriitaisesti. Joissakin tapauksissa teko aiheutti sääliä, pelkoa ja hämmennystä, kun taas joitakin itsemurhia käsiteltiin suopeasti ja niitä jopa ymmärrettiin. Yhteiskunnan maallistuminen ja modernisaatio aiheuttivat katsantokantojen lieventymistä niin itsemurhia kuin niiden tekijöitä kohtaan.
