Students' school‐level symptoms mediate the relationship between a school's observed moisture problems and students’ subjective perceptions of indoor…

2020

Moisture damage can influence the subjective assessment of indoor air quality (subjective IAQ) in various ways. We studied whether the frequency of symptoms reported across students at school level mediates the relationship between observed mold and dampness in a school building and students' subjective IAQ. To answer this research question, we tested a multilevel path model. The analyzed data were created by merging two nationwide data sets: (a) survey data from students, including information on subjective IAQ (N = 24,786 students); (b) data from schools, including information on mold and dampness in a school building (N = 222). After the background variables were adjusted, schools' obser…

I danni punitivi. Riflessioni in chiave comparatistica sui sistemi di common law e di civil law.

2014

The thesis deals with punitive damages, investigating their nature, applicative requirements and functions, among c…

POPOLAMENTI MARGINALI DI FAGGIO E CAMBIAMENTI CLIMATICI IN SICILIA: CRITICITÀ ED EFFETTI DELL’APPLICAZIONE DI PRATICHE SELVICOLTURALI TRADIZIONALI NO…

2016

DIFFERENT FORMS OF DYSGRAPHIA IN BRAIN-DAMAGED PATIENTS

2012

Normally a neurological accident (stroke, head injury, degenerative processes, tumour) to the left hemisphere produces disor- of linguistic functions (aphasia). Among these deficits, the comprehension (reading) and production (spelling) of written lan- guage are frequently altered. In this communication will be described the different types of acquired dysgraphia following a cerebral damage. A cognitive model of the spelling system is reported to explain the different level of processing that can be impaired. The aim is to highlight the complexity of the different clinical pictures that the dysgraphic patients can to show: indeed a careful diagno- sis on damaged cognitive functions and proc…

Terremoto e architettura storica. Palermo e il sisma del 1726.

2015

On September 1st 1726 Palermo was hit by a violent earthquake. Although it did not bring about the destruction of the city, the earthquake caused widespread and extensive damage to the architectural heritage. The local insti- tutions carried out a series of actions involving representatives of the technical culture. These actions affected the subsequent appearance of the urban pattern and influenced the construction methods of the time. Crossing the data taken from chronicles of the time, from maps produced after the earthquake and above all copious archival documents, the research aims to reconstruct the state in which Palermo was after that tragic event, highlighting a number of aspects. …

Miarkowanie kary umownej w ramach powództwa o jej zwrot – glosa do wyroku Sądu Okręgowego w Olsztynie z 5.12.2018 r., IX Ca 758/18

2023

Considerations regarding the alleged association between Herbalife products and cases of hepatotoxicity: a rebuttal.

2014

We thank Dr. K Appelhans et al. for their comments [1] on our paper [2], published online first in April 2012. In our review, we aimed to draw the attention of physicians to the uncontrolled and increasingly alarming use of herbal products and dietary supplements in the general population. In fact, in Italy this phenomenon, though still limited, has rapidly increased over the last few years. Here, use of herbal medicine products has increased to 3.7 %, while in other countries consumption is higher, reaching 20 % in the UK, and 40 % in the USA. Young non-smoking women with a high level of education appear to be the most common consumers [3]. It seems that women use these products more than …

Proteinuria-Microalbuminuria in Renal Damage

2015

Proteinuria (P) usually results from an insult in the glomerular and/or tubular structures of the kidney. It has been considered a marker of risk not only to develop renal insufficiency but also to suffer cardiovascular events, based on prospective studies carried out in the general population as well as in diabetic and hypertensive patients [1]. In fact, proteinuria has been considered a strong marker of risk and an intermediate endpoint during treatment [2, 3].

Exercise effects on cardiovascular disease: from basic aspects to clinical evidence.

2021

Contains fulltext : 283453.pdf (Publisher’s version ) (Closed access) Cardiovascular (CV) disease (CVD) remains the leading cause of major morbidity and CVD- and all-cause mortality in most of the world. It is now clear that regular physical activity (PA) and exercise training (ET) induces a wide range of direct and indirect physiologic adaptations and pleiotropic benefits for human general and CV health. Generally, higher levels of PA, ET, and cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) are correlated with reduced risk of CVD, including myocardial infarction, CVD-related death, and all-cause mortality. Although exact details regarding the ideal doses of ET, including resistance and, especially, aerobi…
