Research of prognostic biomarkers in Tunisian patients with bladder cancer
2016
Bladder cancer is the first most common urogenital cancer in men in Tunisia, with a high recurrence rate. Patients with muscle-invasive disease develop metastasis. The need for expensive continuous surveillance. In this thesis we try to search some candidate biomarkers. Their use for cancer staging and personalization of therapy at the time of diagnosis in order to identify a better treatment could improve patient care. The aim of this first part of our study was to investigate the clinical significance of three immune cell-related transcription factors, T-bet, GATA-3 and Bcl-6 in Tunisian patients with bladder cancer. We found that T-bet level was significantly higher in invasive carcinoma…
Exploring working memory in children with low arithmetical achievement
2005
Abstract This research aimed at exploring the working memory functions in children with low arithmetical achievement and normal reading, compared to age matched controls (mean age 9 years). All the children completed a series of working memory tasks, involving the central executive functions (using both linguistic and numerical material), the phonological loop (using words, pseudo-words and digits) and the visual sketchpad (using both static visual-spatial patterns and visual-spatial sequences). Results indicated that poor arithmeticians performed worse than age-matched controls in all the visual sketchpad tasks and in all the central executive tasks, whether they used linguistic or numeric…
About some psychological variables correlated with dogmatism
1983
The relationships between dogmatism and some perceptual-cognitive, personality, and attitudinal indices were investigated for 40 men and 40 women. Dogmatism scores correlated negatively with the scores in Witkin's Group Embedded Figures Test and on the Flexibility scale from Gough's California Psychological Inventory. Correlations were positive for a favorable attitude towards concepts like Discipline, Obedience, Social order, measured by the semantic differential. Some incongruities between obtained data and Rokeach's (1960) findings are pointed out.

Cost comparison of image rotation implantations on static and dynamic Reconfigurable FPGAs
2002
FPGA components are widely used today to perform various algorithms (digital filtering) in real time. The emergence of Dynamically Reconfigurable (DR) FPGAs made it possible to reduce the number of necessary resources to carry out an image processing application (tasks chain). We present in this article an image processing application (image rotation) that exploits the FPGA 's dynamic reconfiguration feature. A comparison is undertaken between the dynamic and static reconfiguration by using two criteria, cost and performance criteria. For the sake of testing the validity of our approach in terms of Algorithm and Architecture Adequacy, we realized an AT40K40 based board ARDOISE.
Automated Integration and Communication Synthesis of Reconfigurable MPSoC Platform
2007
The communication synthesis is the main problematic in the multiprocessor system-on-chip (MPSoC). To resolve this problem, several methodologies can be used. These methodologies require automated methods to specify, generate and optimize the hardware, software, and the architectural interfaces between them. In this paper, we present a methodology flow for hardware-software communication synthesis for multiprocessor system-on-chip platform which are dedicated to streaming applications. Our methodology consists of high level architecture communication synthesis from functional description of the MPSoC design. The solution that we propose consists in synthesizing a custom bus architecture for …
The effect of alternating different water qualities on accumulation and leaching of solutes in a Mediterranean cracking soil
2002
The relevance of bypass flow on water flow, solute or pesticide transport is becoming increasingly recognized. Recent investigations proved that soil salinization may be influenced by bypass flow, i.e. the rapid transport of water and solutes via macropores and/or shrinkage cracks to subsoil and groundwater. This paper explores the role of bypass flow in the process of accumulation and leaching of solutes, as well as of sodium, in a Mediterranean cracking soil irrigated with saline/sodic waters. The results of bypass flow experiments performed on undisturbed soil cores showed that leaching of solutes occurred in concomitance with bypass fluxes when a low salinity solution was alternated wit…
Genetic selection for reduced Somatic Cell Counts in sheep milk: A review
2015
Mastitis is an inflammation of the udder, mainly caused by bacteria, and leads to economic loss, due to discarded milk, reduced milk production, reduced milk quality and increased health costs in both dairy sheep and cattle. Selecting for increased genetic resistance to mastitis can be done directly or indirectly, with the indirect selection corresponding to a prediction of the bacteriological status of the udder based on traits related to the infection. The most frequently used indirect method is currently milk somatic cell count (SCC) or somatic cell score (SCS). This review reports the state of the art relating to the genetic basis of mastitis resistance in sheep and explores the opportu…
