Measurement of Time-DependentCPAsymmetries and Constraints onsin(2β+γ)with Partial Reconstruction ofB0→D*∓π±Decays
2004
We present a preliminary measurement of the time-dependent CP-violating asymmetry in decays of neutral B mesons to the final states D*-+ pi+- using approximately 178 million BB events recorded by the BaBar experiment at the PEP-II e+e- storage ring. Events containing these decays are selected with a partial reconstruction technique, in which only the high-momentum pi+- from the B decay and the low-momentum pi-+ from the D*-+ decay are used. % We measure the amplitude of the asymmetry to be $-0.041 \pm 0.016 (stat.) \pm 0.010 (syst.)$ and determine bounds on $|\sin(2 \beta + \gamma)|$.
Measurement of the Time-DependentCPAsymmetry in theB0→ϕK0Decay
2004
The authors present a measurement of the time-dependent CP asymmetry for the neutral B-meson decay B{sup 0} {yields} {phi} K{sup 0}. They use a sample of approximately 114 million B-meson pairs taken at the {Upsilon}(4S) resonance with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II B-meson Factory at SLAC. They reconstruct the CP eigenstates {phi}K{sub S}{sup 0} and {phi}K{sub L}{sup 0} where {phi} {yields} K{sup +}K{sup -}, K{sub S}{sup 0} {yields} {pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -}, and K{sub L}{sup 0} is observed via its hadronic interactions. The other B meson in the event is tagged as either a B{sup 0} or {bar B}{sup 0} from its decay products. The values of the CP-violation parameters are S{sub {phi}K} = 0.47 …

Analysis of the semileptonic and nonleptonic two-body decays of the double heavy charm baryon states Ξcc++,Ξcc+ and Ωcc+
2019
We calculate the semileptonic and a subclass of sixteen nonleptonic two-body decays of the double charm baryon ground states Ξcc++,Ξcc+ and Ωcc+ where we concentrate on the nonleptonic decay modes. We identify those nonleptonic decay channels in which the decay proceeds solely via the factorizing contribution precluding a contamination from W exchange. We use the covariant confined quark model previously developed by us to calculate the various helicity amplitudes which describe the dynamics of the 1/2+→1/2+ and 1/2+→3/2+ transitions induced by the Cabibbo-favored effective (c→s) and (d→u) currents. We then proceed to calculate the rates of the decays as well as polarization effects and ang…
Observation of the Doubly StrangebBaryonΩb−
2008
We report the observation of the doubly strange b baryon Omega(-)(b) in the decay channel Omega(-)(b) -> J/psi Omega(-), with J/psi -> mu(+)mu(-) and Omega(-) -> Lambda K- -> (p pi(-))K-, in p (p) over bar collisions at root s = 1.96 TeV. Using approximately 1.3 fb(-1) of data collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider, we observe 17.8 +/- 4.9(stat) +/- 0.8(syst) Omega(-)(b) signal events at a mass of 6.165 +/- 0.010(stat) +/- 0.013(syst) GeV. The significance of the observed signal is 5.4 sigma, corresponding to a probability of 6.7 x 10(-8) of it arising from a background fluctuation.
Measurement of the Angular and Lifetime Parameters of the DecaysBd0→J/ψK*0andBs0→J/ψϕ
2009
We present measurements of the linear polarization amplitudes and the strong relative phases that describe the flavor-untagged decays $B_{d}^{0}\to J/\psi K^{*0}$ and $B_{s}^{0}\to J/\psi\phi$ in the transversity basis. We also measure the mean lifetime $\bar{\tau}_{s}$ of the $B_{s}^{0}$ mass eigenstates and the lifetime ratio $\bar{\tau}_{s}/\tau_{d}$. The analyses are based on approximately 2.8 fb$^{-1}$ of data recorded with the D0 detector. From our measurements of the angular parameters we conclude that there is no evidence for a deviation from flavor SU(3) symmetry for these decays and that the factorization assumption is not valid for the $B_{d}^{0}\to J/\psi K^{*0}$ decay.
Search for the charged lepton flavor violating decay J/ψ→eτ
2021
A search for the charged lepton flavor violating decay J/ψ→e±τ∓ with τ∓→π∓π0ντ is performed with about 10×109 J/ψ events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII. No significant signal is observed, and an upper limit is set on the branching fraction B(J/ψ→e±τ∓)<7.5×10−8 at the 90% confidence level. This improves the previously published limit by two orders of magnitude.
Lifetime Difference andCP-Violating Phase in theBs0System
2007
From an analysis of the decay B-s(0)-> J/psi phi, we obtain the width difference between the light and heavy mass eigenstates Delta Gamma equivalent to(Gamma(L)-Gamma(H))=0.17 +/- 0.09(stat)+/- 0.02(syst) ps(-1) and the CP-violating phase phi(s)=-0.79 +/- 0.56(stat)(-0.01)(+0.14)(syst). Under the hypothesis of no CP violation (phi(s)equivalent to 0), we obtain 1/Gamma=tau/(B-s(0))=1.52 +/- 0.08(stat)(-0.03)(+0.01)(syst) ps and Delta Gamma=0.12(-0.10)(+0.08)(stat)+/- 0.02(syst) ps(-1). The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of about 1.1 fb(-1) accumulated with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. This is the first direct measurement of the CP-violating mixing p…

The fundamental nature of the neutrino is presently a subject of great interest. A way to access the absolute mass scale and the fundamental nature of the neutrino is to utilize the atomic nuclei through their rare decays, the neutrinoless double beta (0νββ) decay in particular. The experimentally measurable observable is the half-life of the decay, which can be factorized to consist of phase space factor, axial vector coupling constant, nuclear matrix element, and function containing physics beyond the standard model. Thus reliable description of nuclear matrix element is of crucial importance in order to extract information governed by the function containing physics beyond the standard m…
Realistic Tri-Bi-Maximal neutrino mixing
2018
We propose a generalized version of the Tri-Bi-Maximal (TBM) ansatz for lepton mixing, leading to non-zero reactor angle $\theta_{13}$ and CP violation. The latter is characterized by two CP phases. The Dirac phase affecting neutrino oscillations is nearly maximal ($\delta_{CP} \sim \pm \pi/2$), while the Majorana phase implies narrow allowed ranges for the neutrinoless double beta decay amplitude. The solar angle $\theta_{12}$ lies nearly at its TBM value, while the atmospheric angle $\theta_{23}$ has the TBM value for maximal $\delta_{CP}$. Neutrino oscillation predictions can be tested in present and upcoming experiments.
