Extraction of form Factors from a Four-Dimensional Angular Analysis of B¯→D*ℓ−ν¯ℓ
2019
An angular analysis of the decay B[over ¯]→D^{*}l^{-}ν[over ¯]_{l}, l∈{e,μ}, is reported using the full e^{+}e^{-} collision data set collected by the BABAR experiment at the ϒ(4S) resonance. One B meson from the ϒ(4S)→BB[over ¯] decay is fully reconstructed in a hadronic decay mode, which constrains the kinematics and provides a determination of the neutrino momentum vector. The kinematics of the semileptonic decay is described by the dilepton mass squared, q^{2}, and three angles. The first unbinned fit to the full four-dimensional decay rate in the standard model is performed in the so-called Boyd-Grinstein-Lebed approach, which employs a generic q^{2} parametrization of the underlying f…
Improved measurement ofCPobservables inB±→DCP0K±decays
2008
We present a study of the decay B{sup -} {yields} D{sub (CP)}{sup 0}K{sup -} and its charge conjugate, where D{sub (CP)}{sup 0} is reconstructed in both a non-CP flavor eigenstate and in CP (CP-even and CP-odd) eigenstates, based on a sample of 382 million {Upsilon}(4S) {yields} B{bar B} decays collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e{sup +}e{sup -} storage ring. We measure the direct CP asymmetries A{sub CP{+-}} and the ratios of the branching fractions R{sub CP{+-}}: A{sub CP+} = 0.27 {+-} 0.09(stat) {+-} 0.04(syst), A{sub CP-} = -0.09 {+-} 0.09(stat) {+-} 0.02(syst), R{sub CP+} = 1.06 {+-} 0.10(stat) {+-} 0.05(syst), R{sub CP-} = 1.03 {+-} 0.10(stat) {+-} 0.05(syst). Effective Lagrangian approach to neutrinoless double beta decay and neutrino masses
2012
Neutrinoless double beta ($0\nu\beta\beta$) decay can in general produce electrons of either chirality, in contrast with the minimal Standard Model (SM) extension with only the addition of the Weinberg operator, which predicts two left-handed electrons in the final state. We classify the lepton number violating (LNV) effective operators with two leptons of either chirality but no quarks, ordered according to the magnitude of their contribution to \znbb decay. We point out that, for each of the three chirality assignments, $e_Le_L, e_Le_R$ and $e_Re_R$, there is only one LNV operator of the corresponding type to lowest order, and these have dimensions 5, 7 and 9, respectively. Neutrino masse…
Asymmetric tri-bi-maximal mixing and residual symmetries
2019
Asymmetric tri-bi-maximal mixing is a recently proposed, grand unified theory (GUT) based, flavor mixing scheme. In it, the charged lepton mixing is fixed by the GUT connection to down-type quarks and a $\mathcal{T}_{13}$ flavor symmetry, while neutrino mixing is assumed to be tri-bi-maximal (TBM) with one additional free phase. Here we show that this additional free phase can be fixed by the residual flavor and CP symmetries of the effective neutrino mass matrix. We discuss how those residual symmetries can be unified with $\mathcal{T}_{13}$ and identify the smallest possible unified flavor symmetries, namely $(\mathbb{Z}_{13}\times\mathbb{Z}_{13})\rtimes \mathrm{D}_{12}$ and $(\mathbb{Z}_…

Mixing induced CP asymmetries in b → sγ decay and spontaneous CP violation
1998
Abstract We analyze the mixing induced CP asymmetry in the decay b → sγ in the left-right symmetric model with spontaneous CP . This model possesses the useful property that all the CP -violating observables can be expressed in term of a single phase, a ratio of scalar vevs, quark masses and weak mixing angles but not on unconstrained quantities such as Yukawa coupling or additional phases. The calculated CP asymmetry can be much larger than in the Standard Model.
Calculation of the neutrinoless ββ decay of 76Ge using a quark model with harmonic confinement
1991
Abstract The half-life of the neutrinoless double beta decay of 76Ge into the ground state of 76Se is calculated in a relativistic quark confinement model. The proton-neutron quasi-particle random-phase approximation is used to evaluate the s- and p-wave nuclear matrix elements contained in the decay amplitude. We avoid the closure approximation and calculate the effective vector and axial-vector coupling constants of the hadronic currents using our quark model. In our formulation the recoil matrix element arises from the quark recoil in the decaying neutrons. The recoil and the p-wave effect are discussed and compared with other calculations. From the experimental lower bound for the decay…
Search for techniparticles in e +jets events at D0
2006
We search for the technicolor process ppbar -> rho_T/omega_T ->W+pi_T in events containing one electron and two jets, in data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 390 pb-1, recorded by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron. Technicolor predicts that technipions, pi_T, decay dominantly into b-bbar, b-cbar, or bbar-c, depending on their charge. In these events b and c quarks are identified by their secondary decay vertices within jets. Two analysis methods based on topological variables are presented. Since no excess above the standard model prediction was found, the result is presented as an exclusion in the pi_T vs. rho_T mass plane for a given set of model parameters.

Taming the higher power corrections in semileptonic B decays
2016
We study the effect of dimension 7 and 8 operators on inclusive semileptonic B decays and the extraction of |Vcb|. Using moments of semileptonic B decay spectra and information based on the Lowest-Lying State saturation Approximation (LLSA) we perform a global fit of the nonperturbative parameters of the heavy quark expansion including for the first time the O(1/mb^{4,5}) contributions. Higher power corrections appear to have a very small effect on the extraction of |Vcb|, independently of the weight we attribute to the LLSA.
