Measurement of the relative branching fractions ofB¯→D/D*/D**l−ν¯ldecays in events with a fully reconstructedBmeson

We determine the relative branching fractions of semileptonic B decays to charmed final states. The measurement is performed on the recoil from a fully reconstructed B meson in a sample of 362×106 BB pairs collected at the Υ(4S) resonance with the BABAR detector. A simultaneous fit to a set of discriminating variables is performed on a sample of B→DX-ν decays to determine the contributions from the different channels. We measure Γ(B-→D-ν)/Γ(B-→DX-ν)=0.227±0. 014±0.016, Γ(B-→D*-ν)/Γ(B-→DX- ν)=0.582±0.018±0.030, and Γ(B-→D **-ν)/Γ(B-→DX-ν)=0.191±0. 013±0.019 for the charged B sample, and Γ(B0→D- ν)/Γ(B0→DX-ν)=0.215±0.016±0. 013, Γ(B0→D*-ν)/Γ(B0→DX- ν)=0.537±0.031±0.036, and Γ(B0→ D**-ν)/Γ(B0→…

We investigate the contribution of medium-modified jets and initial state fluctuations to the asymmetry in charged-particle production with respect to the reaction plane. This asymmetry has been suggested as a compelling signature for the chiral magnetic effect in QCD and makes the study of conventional scenarios for the creation of such charged-particle multiplicity fluctuations a timely endeavor. The different path-length combinations of jets through the medium in noncentral heavy ion collisions result in finite correlations of like and different charged particles emitted in the different hemispheres. Form-factors and current correlators: chiral couplingsL10r(μ) andC87r(μ) at NLO in 1/NC

Using the resonance chiral theory Lagrangian, we perform a calculation of the vector and axial-vector two-point functions at the next-to-leading order (NLO) in the 1/N-C expansion. We have analyzed these correlators within the single-resonance approximation and have also investigated the corrections induced by a second multiplet of vector and axial-vector resonance states. Imposing the correct QCD short-distance constraints, one determines the difference of the two correlators Pi(t) equivalent to Pi(VV)(t)-Pi(AA)(t) in terms of the pion decay constant and resonance masses. Violation of quark-hadron duality and spectral chiral moments in QCD

We analyze the spectral moments of the V - A two-point correlation function. Using all known short-distance constraints and the most recent experimental data from tau decays, we determine the lowest spectral moments, trying to assess the uncertainties associated with the so-called violations of quark-hadron duality. We have generated a large number of acceptable spectral functions, satisfying all conditions, and have used them to extract the wanted hadronic parameters through a careful statistical analysis. We obtain accurate values for the chi PT couplings L-10 and C-87, and a realistic determination of the dimension six and eight contributions in the operator product expansion, O-6 = (-5.…

Vector Mesons and Dence Skyrmion Matter

In our continuing effort to understand hadronic matter at high density, we have developed a unified field theoretic formalism for dense skyrmion matter using a single Lagrangian to describe simultaneously both matter and meson fluctuations and studied in-medium properties of hadrons. Dropping the quartic Skyrme term, we incorporate into our previous Lagrangian the vector mesons rho and omega in a form which is consistent with the symmetries of QCD. The results that we have obtained, reported here, expose a hitherto unsuspected puzzle associated with the role the omega meson plays at short distance. Nonfactorizable corrections toB→J/ψK

We apply the method of QCD light-cone sum rules to calculate nonfactorizable contributions to the $\stackrel{\ensuremath{\rightarrow}}{B}J/\ensuremath{\psi}K$ decay and estimate soft nonfactorizable corrections to the ${a}_{2}$ parameter. The corrections appear to be positive, favoring the positive sign of ${a}_{2},$ in agreement with recent theoretical considerations and experimental data. Our result also confirms expectations that in the color-suppressed decay nonfactorizable corrections are sizable.

Combination oftt¯cross section measurements and constraints on the mass of the top quark and its decays into charged Higgs bosons

We combine measurements of the top quark pair production cross section in p (p) over bar collisions in the l + jets, ll, and tau l final states ( where l is an electron or muon) at a center of mass energy of root s = 1.96 TeV in 1 fb(-1) of data collected with the D0 detector. For a top quark mass of 170 GeV/c(2), we obtain sigma(t (t) over bar) = 8.18(-0.87)(+0.98) pb in agreement with the theoretical prediction. Based on predictions from higher order quantum chromodynamics, we extract a mass for the top quark from the combined t (t) over bar cross section, consistent with the world average of the top quark mass. New High Order Relations between Physical Observables in Perturbative QCD

We exploit the fact that within massless perturbative QCD the same Green's function determines the hadronic contribution to the $\tau$ decay width and the moments of the $e^+e^-$ cross section. This allows one to obtain relations between physical observables in the two processes up to an unprecedented high order of perturbative QCD. A precision measurement of the $\tau$ decay width allows one then to predict the first few moments of the spectral density in $e^+e^-$ annihilations integrated up to $s\sim m_\tau^2$ with high accuracy. The proposed tests are in reach of present experimental capabilities.
