Steel jacketing of reinforced concrete (RC) columns is a common retrofitting technique used to restore bearing and deformation capacity of buildings presenting structural deficiencies. For practical reasons, steel angles are in several cases arranged leaving a gap with the end beams or slabs. Spectral analysis of the criteria for multiaxial Random Fatigue

In the paper the spectral analysis of several fatigue criteria under simple and complex states of stress has been done and limitations appearing while formulating new criteria for multiaxial random loadings have been shown. The presented analysis includes determination, with digital simulation, of probability density function and power spectral density function of the equivalent stress according to three special linear criteria of multiaxial random fatigue and six nonlinear criteria. Behaviour of a speargun with a novel muzzle - Comportamento di un fucile subacqueo con testata innovativa

The paper presents the results of a numerical and experimental investigation performed on a barrel of a speargun equipped with two kinds of muzzle. In particular, a standard muzzle for speargun (having an elastic propulsion) has been compared with an innovative one called ‘roller’. This new muzzle is equipped with two rollers and special bands. The rubber bands, fixed at the lower side of the barrel, run through the rollers and are engaged in suitable seats of the shaft. In box girder bridges, the quantity and distribution of reinforcement to be put in concrete elements of sections can be evaluated only by considering the deformation of the cross section in addition to the longitudinal analysis of the static scheme, establishing the entire state of stress of box sections. This leads to a need to evaluate the interaction between internal forces obtained by the global analysis and the ones obtained by the local analysis of the cross sections. Stress determination is a very important step in the assessment of the safety of existing reinforced concrete structures. In rock mechanic this goal is achieved with the over-coring technique. Abstract In this paper a new method of connecting pipe to flange without welding is presented. This method is a cold forming process that is based on plastic expansion/deformation of the pipe into a modified standard flange by use of a cold forming tool. The method is patented by Quickflange Technology AS and represents a highly feasible alternative to welding. A Ritz approach for the analysis of buckling and post-buckling of stiffened composite panels with through-the-thickness cracks and/or delaminations is presented. The structure is modeled as the assembly of plate elements whose behavior is described by the First-order Shear Deformation Theory and von Karman’s geometric nonlinearities. Penalty techniques ensure continuity along the edges of contiguous plate elements and the enforcement of the restraints on the external boundaries.
