Vapaapalokunta - kasvupaikka kansalaistoiminnalle 1838-1938

Vapaapalokuntatoiminta alkoi maassamme vuonna 1838 naapurimaista saadun esimerkin mukaisesti. VPK:iden toiminta muotoutui moninaiseksi ja se oli tarkoitettu kaikille kansalaisille. Toiminnassa noudatettiin tasa-arvon ja demokratian periaatteita alusta lähtien ja toiminnan tavoitteisiin kuuluivat yleishyödyllisyys sekä luokkaerojen vähentäminen jäsenten keskuudessa amerikkalaisen esikuvansa mukaisesti. Tutkielman tarkoituksena on selvittää vapaapalokuntatoiminnan merkitystä kansalaisyhteiskunnalle ja kansalaisille niillä paikkakunnilla, joilla yhdistyksiä perustettiin. Vēlētāju likumdošanas iniciatīva Latvijā un ārvalstīs

Viens no tiešās demokrātijas izpausmes veidiem ir vēlētāju likumdošanas iniciatīva, kas ļauj pilsoņu kopumam piedalīties likumdošanas procesā, tādējādi izsakot savu gribu un lemjot par sev svarīgiem un nozīmīgiem jautājumiem. Vēlētāju likumdošanas iniciatīvas tiesības pastāv arī Latvijā. Family Firm Heterogeneity and Tax Aggressiveness: A Quasi-Experimental Analysis of the Impact of Different Family Generations

This paper analyses tax aggressiveness in family firm generations. Moreover, taking into account the heterogeneity in family firms, we check whether the successive generations in control show different tax avoidance behaviour. The empirical evidence, based on the quasi-experiment of the 2012 Spanish thin capitalization rule, reveals that there is a positive relationship between tax aggressiveness and successive generations. Moreover, the founder and second generations follow a similar conservative tax avoidance approach, whereas the third and fourth generations are found to be more tax aggressive.

Użytkownicy internetu korzystają z możliwości, jakie daje im komputer, i chętnie tworzą teksty łączące w sobie elementy werbalne i graficzne. Jednym z najpopularniejszych polikodowych gatunków internetowych są demotywatory. Połączenie w nich dwóch kanałów: werbalnego i ikonicznego powoduje wzmocnienie siły ich oddziaływania. Często w werbalnej części demotywatorów są wykorzystywane frazeologizmy i skrzydlate słowa. Połączenie ich z elementem graficznym powoduje ich defrazeologizację oraz grę językową z wykorzystaniem wieloznaczności i homonimiczności wyrazów.

Tensions between the people and parliament over representation are a normal feature of representative democracies. In this paper, we demonstrate how digital humanities analysis tools help in answering questions about the timing of debates on popular representation, tensions over its realization, and representatives’ changing perceptions on their parliamentary role. Our long-term approach to the conceptual history of political representation is based on the analysis of digitized parliamentary debates as nexuses of multi-sited political discourse. Abstract The paper examines the introduction of civic education in post-communist Romania as an educational means of civilising in a democratic ethos the children of the transition. Demokracja medialna w III RP jest nowoczesną formą demokracji, w której mass media wpływają w znaczącym stopniu na decyzje podejmowane przez obywateli. Ponadto obywatele realizują swoje prawa (jak np. wolność słowa, czy wolny dostęp do informacji) i mają możliwość angażowania się w życie polityczne kraju. W artykule przedstawiono pokrótce podejście Polaków do demokracji. Następnie opisano pojęcie demokracji medialnej i mediatyzację polityki. Końcowa część artykułu została poświęcona przybliżeniu wpływu sondaży oraz opinii publicznej na decyzje wyborcze obywateli.
