Middle Miocene graben development in Crete and its possible relation to large-scale detachment faults in the southern Aegean

2001

The linkage between the development of south-facing Cretan graben and large-scale detachment faulting in the southern Aegean is unknown. Widespread Serravallian deposits in the Ierapetra graben of Crete supply constraints to Middle Miocene graben development in the southern Aegean. The Ierapetra graben, and by inference the Cretan graben in general, were hitherto believed to have formed as a result of sinistral transpression during N–S shortening. We argue that the formation of the Cretan graben is due to N–S extension. The south-dipping, N–S-extending Kritsa normal fault served as the master fault controlling graben development in the Ierapetra graben. The Kritsa normal fault is either an …

Assessment of the pedicel detaching and crashing forces of grape berries to determine the right mechanical harvesting period

2007

During the mechanical harvesting the shakers cause the detachment of the grape berries from the grape stalk but also the breaking of the grape berries peel with the consequent production of must that influences the quality of the harvested grapes. This one is higher in the varieties having grape berries more resistant to the crushing and, at the same time, an easier detachment of the pedicel. The aim of this work is to evaluate, for three different varieties of grape (Chardonnay, Catarratto comune and Nero d’Avola), the crushing strength of the berry, that represents the cause of the production of must during the mechanical harvesting, and the resistance of the berry-pedicel system that inf…

Concise review of interrill erosion studies in SE Spain (Alicante and Murcia): erosion rates and progress of knowledge from the 1980s

2005

From the 1980s onward studies on interrill soil erosion were intensified in SE Spain. The main achievements of the research carried out in the field areas of Alicante and Murcia concern: first, (1) the estimation of erosion rates directly in the field under a wide range of methodologies, different scales and different environmental conditions; (2) estimations based on existing models, such as the USLE, carried out for different subcatchments of the Segura and Júcar catchments; and (3) other parametric and physical event-based models have also been calibrated and validated. Second, the progress of the knowledge in understanding erosion mechanisms. New and reviewed concepts regarding mainly h…

"Table 1" of "Pseudorapidity and transverse-momentum distributions of charged particles in proton-proton collisions at $\mathbf{\sqrt{\textit s}}$ = …

2016

Average pseudorapidity density of charged particles as a function of eta produced in pp collisions at sqrt(s) = 13 TeV. The results are shown in the normalisation classes INEL and INEL>0. The uncertainties are the quadratic sum of statistical and systematic contributions.

The charged--particle pseudorapidity density distributions scaled by the average number of participants in various pseudorapidity intervals as a function of the number of participants. Data for the 0 to 30 PCT most central events, and in ETARAP < 0.5 is available in previously published results [PLB726.610,PRC88.044910]. The uncertainties on $\left\langle N_{\text{part}}\right\rangle$ from the Glauber calculations not included (see [PRC88.044910]).

Measurement of $\mbox{d}N_{\mbox{ch}}/\mbox{d}\eta$ for all centralities and a broad $\eta$ range. Combined and symmetrised $\mbox{d}N_{\mbox{ch}}/\mbox{d}\eta$ over 30-90 PCT centrality from both SPD and FMD. Previously published results for 0-30 PCT over the full pseudorapidity range available elsewhere [PLB726.610]. Please note the systematic uncertainty from the centrality determination is encoded as a qualifier in the table header.
