Rational Herding in Reward-Based Crowdfunding: An MTurk Experiment.
2020
Crowdfunding is gaining popularity as a way of financing social sustainable initiatives. We performed a controlled economic experiment in MTurk by simulating a crowdfunding platform and developed a theoretical model that rationalizes herding behavior. The experiment was designed to test and quantify the causal effects of revealing specific information to prospective backers: (i) the number of early contributors already financing the project and (ii) positive opinions of other backers versus those of experts. The results show that early contributions to the campaign and positive opinions of peers act as a reinforcing signal to potential backers and affect backers&rsquo
SAGITTAL ALIGNMENT OF SPINE REGULATED BY PELVIC INCIDENCE: A REVIEW
2012
The present paper is not only a review of the literature on pelvic incidence parameter, is also designed to reflect anew to the actions of preventive and compensatory physical activity, with particular reference to abdominal exercises. The incidence pelvic anatomy is a parameter whose value represents the angle between the perpendicular to the sacral plate at its midpoint and the line joining this point to the axis of the femoral head; it controls the spinal curves in accordance with the adaptability other parameters. The studies analyzed here suggest new considerations to be applied in the dynamic execution of preventive and compensatory physical activity. The training of the muscles lumba…

Synthesis, characterization, and cellular investigations of porphyrin– and chlorin–indomethacin conjugates for photodynamic therapy of cancer
2021
Indomethacin is a potent non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with a strong selective inhibitor activity towards cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), an enzyme that is highly overexpressed in various tumour cells, being involved in tumourigenesis. Concomitantly, porphyrins have gained much attention as promising photosensitizers (PSs) for the non-invasive photodynamic therapy (PDT) of cancer. Herein, we report the design, and determine the singlet oxygen generation capacity and in vitro cellular toxicity of porphyrin- and chlorin-indomethacin conjugates (P2-Ind and C2-Ind). Both the conjugates were obtained in high yields and were characterized by 1H, 19F and 13C NMR as well as by high resolut…

Formiaattimolekyylin dissosiaation määritys platina- ja rhodiumpinnoilla laskennallisesti
2017
Tutkielmassa käydään lyhyesti läpi laskennallisen kemian historiaa ja kuinka se on muodostanut suuren roolin tutkimuksissa. Lyhyt katsaus katalyysien historiaan tarjoaa lukijalle mahdollisuuden tarkastella kuinka nykypäivän teknologiaan on päästy, ja mistä kaikki alkoivat. Ilman katalyysiä ihmiskunta olisi edelleen hevosten päällä maaseudulla, joten on olennaista tietää millaisilla menetelmillä ja kuinka ihmiskunta on kehittynyt nykypäivän teknologiaan pohjautuvaan yhteiskuntaan. Historiallisen katsauksen ohella tutkielmassa perehdytään heterogeeniseen katalyysireaktioon, joista vesikaasun siirtoreaktio (WGS) on tarkastelun kohteena. WGS-reaktiota sovelletaan hyvin laajasti teollisissa pros…

A New Pt(II) Complex with Anionic s-Triazine Based NNO-Donor Ligand: Synthesis, X-ray Structure, Hirshfeld Analysis and DFT Studies
2022
The reaction of PtCl2 with s-triazine-type ligand (HTriaz) (1:1) in acetone under heating afforded a new [Pt(Triaz)Cl] complex. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis showed that the ligand (HTriaz) is an NNO tridentate chelate via two N-atoms from the s-triazine and hydrazone moieties and one oxygen from the deprotonated phenolic OH. The coordination environment of the Pt(II) is completed by one Cl−1 ion trans to the Pt-N(hydrazone). Hirshfeld surface analysis showed that the most dominant interactions are the H···H, H···C and O···H intermolecular contacts. These interactions contributed by 60.9, 11.2 and 8.3% from the…
Experimental and theoretical studies on corals. I. Toward understanding the origin of color in precious red corals from Raman and IR spectroscopies a…
2010
An attempt to explain the origin of the vivid red color in precious pink and red corals was undertaken. Raman and IR spectroscopies were applied to characterize white, pink and red corals. The position of the Raman signal near 1500 cm−1 of some corals and pearls was associated by several authors with the presence of the mixture of all‐trans‐polyenic pigments, containing 6–16 conjugated CC bonds or β‐carotenoids. This hypothesis was examined theoretically by performing extensive B3LYP‐DFT calculations of vibrational spectra of the model polyenic compounds. The B3LYP/6‐311++G** predicted positions of the dominating Raman mode depend on the number of CC units (Cn parameter) and can be accura…
