Innovative tools to diagnose the impact of land use practices on soil microbial communities

2018

International audience; Preservation and sustainable use of soil biological communities represent major challenges in the current agroecological context. Indeed, most of soil ecosystem services results from biological functions particularly driven by taxonomic and functional assemblages of microbiological communities (i.e. nutrient cycling, soil aggregation, depollution, etc.). Consequently, soil microbial communities are logical candidates as effective indicators of soil quality and sustainability. But, good biological indicators must be associated with references that encompass an operating range of measured values that allow performing the desired diagnosis. Even if numerous studies have…

Technological innovation around protein and cell biochip for diagnosis: a translational research from nanoworld to patient

2009

International audience; A great challenge in biosensors and diagnosis devices relies on the way to reconstitute relevant biological mechanisms on surface of the biochips and which analytical tools are convenient to provide accurate and rapid information on the structures and function of molecules attached to this surface. A better control in the realization of biochips can be obtained in combining different complementary approaches while always keeping in mind the biological key point. Researches in CLIPP are focused towards this objective. Conception, realization and characterization of protein and cell chips are presented. We detail different strategies of materials engineering1,2,3, chem…

HSP70-exosomes for the monitoring of cancer

2020

Actually, cancer is unfortunately part of our daily life. Although it is better treated, more and more people are affected. Cancer research is working on two side: therapy and diagnosis. The next-generation therapies show wonderful results that were never reached so far, but diagnosis improvement can also save lives. It is well established that the earlier the cancer is diagnosed, the better the survival rate. Idem for the follow-up of the disease. In this context of precision and earliness, liquid biopsy spark interest and seems to have a bright future. It consists in the investigation of liquid analytes, particularly within the bloodstream, such as circulating tumor DNA, circulating tumor…

Neurophysiologic Testing in Infants With Usher Syndrome Type 1

2009

Purpose: Usher syndrome type 1 needs to be diagnosed at early age, when speech therapy and cochlear implantation can stimulate communication in a deaf child who will confront an additional visual handicap. Molecular diagnosis is not routinely available. Visual function tests are not easily performed in young children. Before the age of six years, progressive retinal degeneration does not always show fundoscopic changes and few data are available regarding neurophysiologic abnormalities. This study was designed to describe electroretinogram (ERG) and visual evoked potentials (VEP) in a series of fourteen children with Usher syndrome type I.Methods: Monocular ERG and binocular VEP were perfor…

Gestion du pâturage au printemps en système bovin allaitant : diversité des pratiques en Saône-et-Loire

2009

National audience; Grazed grass is the cheapest forage for making meat'. In order to incite farmers to make their forage systems more self-sufficient and thrifty, the 'Chambre d'Agriculture de Saone-et-Loire' (a professional agricultural organization for that departement) has been monitoring for five years the management of spring grazing on 23 farms. The analysis of farmers' practices lead to considerations as to put to the best use the grazed grass, according to the pedo-climatic conditions and the constraints of the farms. With the aim of optimizing the pasture resources in order to limit the purchase of concentrates and to cope with the climatic hazards, the study of the management of s…

Accompagner les réseaux DEPHY-FERME et DEPHY EXPE dans la caractérisation de l’effet des systèmes de culture sur la flore adventice

2015

To characterize weed pressure in agricultural fields of the DEPHY Ecophyto networks, the "weeds" working group of the CASIMIR project, helped by crop and weed experts working for the french crop institutes, developed two methods (CASIMIR DEPHYFARM and CASIMIR DEPHYEXPE) to survey weeds in main crops. The objectives of these methods are: (i) with shortterm concern, assess the efficacy of farming practices to manage weeds within the crop season, (ii) with longterm concern, assess the effect of cropping system (farming practices and crop sequence) on the dynamic of the weed communities. The CASIMIR DEPHYFARM method is based on walk away surveys made within a 2000m² reference plot where t…

Identification and diagnosis of patients with familial chylomicronaemia syndrome (FCS): Expert panel recommendations and proposal of an "FCS score".

2018

Familial chylomicronaemia syndrome (FCS) is a rare, inherited disorder characterised by impaired clearance of triglyceride (TG)-rich lipoproteins from plasma, leading to severe hypertriglyceridaemia (HTG) and a markedly increased risk of acute pancreatitis. It is due to the lack of lipoprotein lipase (LPL) function, resulting from recessive loss of function mutations in the genes coding LPL or its modulators. A large overlap in the phenotype between FCS and multifactorial chylomicronaemia syndrome (MCS) contributes to the inconsistency in how patients are diagnosed and managed worldwide, whereas the incidence of acute hypertriglyceridaemic pancreatitis is more frequent in FCS. A panel of Eu…

Specifications of the contents of the European Guide of Diagnosis and Evaluation.

2006

This communication evokes the coordination activities that were made within the WP6C group that is in charge of the definition of the CATALYSE toolkit contents. The diagnosis and evaluation guides that have been defined and used by the present CAENTI partners since 1994 were harmonized. The latter wade also made so as to respect the European standards for the concerned data and to facilitate its confrontation with the available indicators at the European level. A series of specifications was defined concerning the functions of this guide (communication instrument/data processing base), its structure (welcome/project/evaluation), the information it includes, and the data processing protocols…

Perinatal management of gastroschisis

2014

Gastroschisis is an abdominal wall defect, typically located to the right of the umbilical cord, requiring an early surgical treatment shortly after birth. Affected patients can be identified during intrauterine life with US and should be delivered in referral hospitals where a multisciplinary approach can be provided, involving neonatologists, clinical geneticists, surgeons and other specialists. These patients require a complex management in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and a long term follow-up after discharge. Exceed the acute neonatal condition, gastroschisis has a good prognosis, if there are no overlapping complications, and it should be differentiated from omphalocele, burden…

Parental and professional agency in terminations for fetal anomalies: analysis of Finnish women's accounts

2013

This study explores the construction of parental and professional agency in the written accounts by women who have undergone selective abortion (N=8). The analysis of the data was based on qualitative, linguistic discourse analysis. The accounts indicate that the mothers themselves exhibited both strong and weak agency during the process of prenatal diagnosis. The role of the professionals was usually discussed in these accounts concerning only the phases of pregnancy when something out of ordinary had been detected. After the termination, the mothers expressed that they were forced to exhibit strong agency and find ways to cope with their distress unaided due to a lack of professional supp…
