Background: In recent years transcranial Magnetic Resonance-guided Focused Ultrasound Surgery (tcMRgFUS) treatments have been performed only using 3T units. Since following some internal analysis, planning images obtained using a 1.5T MRI’s body RF coil (as usually done with 3T systems) showed generally reasonable quality in terms of anatomy visualization and SNR but thermal images noise was above acceptable standard for treatments, a dedicated 2-channels head coil was developed (InSightec Ltd.) to ensure an adequate signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). SCOPO DEL LAVORO Valutare l’accuratezza delle immagini T2-FLAIR e DWI nello studio delle lesioni caratteristiche dell’Encefalopatia di Wernicke. MATERIALI E METODI Studio effettuato su donna di 56 anni, affetta da Encefalopatia di Wernicke non alcool-correlata. Nel Dicembre 2011 la paziente è stata sottoposta ad esame RM, utilizzando un tomografo operante a 1,5 T con acquisizione di scansioni sui piani assiale, sagittale e coronale in tecnica Spin-Echo (SE), Fast Spin-Echo (FSE), Fluid Attenuated Inversion Recovery (FLAIR) e Diffusion Weighted Imaging (DWI), con sequenze T1 e T2 pesate. La torre del Tempo: il punto di vista del chimico

L’obiettivo del presente lavoro è stato quello di valutare la tipologia di lega metallica, il suo degrado e la tipologia di vernice dell’opera in ferro policroma “La Torre del Tempo” di E. Tadini. A tale scopo sono state effettuate delle misure di Microscopia Ottica, Diffrattometria a raggi X, Spettroscopia micro-Raman e Spettroscopia NMR. The goal of this study was to evaluate the type and the of conservation state of the metal alloy and the type of varnish of samples coming from “La Torre del Tempo” E. Tadini. The samples were characterized by Optical Microscopy, X-ray Diffractometry, micro-Raman Spectroscopy and NMR spectroscopy.

I fibromi uterini rappresentano il più comune tumore benigno del tratto genitale femminile in età riproduttiva. Sebbene siano spesso del tutto asintomatici, in circa la metà dei casi possono essere responsabili di sintomi debilitanti quali menometrorragia, dismenorrea, anemia, dolore, pressione pelvica, disturbi urinari, costipazione, dispareunia ed infertilità. TRANS-FUSIMO: preliminary in-vivo animal results of MR-guided focused ultrasound of liver under respiratory motion

Purpose: Treating liver tumors using Focused Ultrasound (FUS) is a great challenge. Prior to human applications, an in-vivo animal trial using the TRANS-FUSIMO treatment system (TTS) is ongoing in order to evaluate the safety and the technical efficacy and efficiency of generating predefined necrotic lesions. Methods and Materials: The trial includes a crossbred porcine model of thirty large white swine (all females; 55-85Kg) that will be treated using the TTS under general anaesthesia with intubation.
