AbstractIn 1959, UNESCO published a film catalogue titled Orient. A Survey of Films Produced in Countries of Arab and Asian Culture to familiarise Western audiences with Eastern cultures. Out of the 139 feature films included in the catalogue, 37 were Japanese. Through a discussion of the descriptions of the films provided in the catalogue, this article analyses Japan’s post-war cultural diplomacy in the context of the Orient project. The aim is to discuss the question of what purpose the Japanese films chosen for the Orient catalogue served in terms of cultural diplomacy. In this article, I discuss the private dress collection of Brita Kekkonen (1927–2013), a diplomatic wife, who was a very well-known figure in Finland during the period of the Cold War. Brita Kekkonen was also a very talented dress-maker and a very fashionable figure in diplomatic circles. Some eighty outfits made by Brita Kekkonen have survived to this day, in addition to her volumi-nous pattern collection, containing more than 1,000 patterns from several decades. The European Commission has recently identified cultural heritage as a focus area for EU cultural diplomacy. The article explores EU cultural diplomacy that deals with cultural heritage and develops the concept of heritage diplomacy based on a critical discourse analysis of interviews with EU officials and heritage practitioners working at sites awarded with the European Heritage Label. Ważnym elementem w obecnych badaniach historycznych jest analiza relacji dyplomatycznych dotyczących dawnej Rzeczypospolitej w tym Wielkiego Księstwa Litewskiego. Ukazują one dzieje państwa oraz jego politykę wewnętrzną i zagraniczna z innej perspektywy historycznej. W 1700 r. wybuchła Wielka Wojna Północna, która zmieniła układ sił politycznych w Europie Środkowo Wschodniej na kolejne dziesięciolecia. Today, social media is changing the way people communicate by giving the influence to the hands of the people. For organizations, it means that the issues of stakeholders are the focus of the communication, not the organizations. The question no longer is whether to use social media in public relations, but how to use it. In this research the social media communication of the Finnish missions abroad is studied. The missions have implemented social media as a part of their communication mainly since 2010. Maģistra darba tēma ir: Meža diplomātija kā potenciālā nišas diplomātija Latvijas ārpolitikā. Darba mērķis ir izpētīt iespējas kā veidot Latvijas nišas diplomātiju, kā arī identificēt meža diplomātiju kā Ārlietu ministrijas potenciālo diplomātijas instrumentu. Pētījums izmanto primārās izpētes gadījuma analīzi, cenšoties saprast Latvijas iespējas un ierobežojumus, nišas diplomātijas izveidē. Latvija nerealizē nišas diplomātijas aktivitātes, taču darbs sniegs ieskatu vai Latvijai ir potenciāls nišas diplomātiju attīstīt.
