Simulacri divini. Ruoli cultuali e pratiche devozionali
2012
High Immunoglobulin A Levels Mediate the Association Between High Anger Expression and Low Somatic Symptoms in Intimate Partner Violence Perpetrators.
2014
It has been hypothesized that anger expression may be associated with increased salivary immunoglobulin A (sIgA) levels, which is associated with decreased somatic symptoms, and therefore anger expression may be associated with reduced somatic symptoms in intimate partner violence (IPV) perpetrators. This study tested the potential mediating effect of sIgA levels on the relationship between anger expression and respiratory and gastrointestinal symptoms in IPV perpetrators and non-violent controls. The sample consisted of IPV perpetrators ( n = 19) and controls ( n = 21). Saliva samples were collected for assessing sIgA levels. The State-Trait Anger Expression Inventory–2 was used to assess…
Viktigheten av fysisk aktivitet og trening blant eldre
2012
Published version of an article in the journal: Norsk Epidemiologi. Also available from the publisher at: http://www.ntnu.no/ojs/index.php/norepid/article/view/1562 Open access Regular physical activity in older adults is critically important to ensure healthy aging. The link between physical activity and prevention of disease, maintenance of independence, and improved quality of life is supported by strong evidence (ACSM's Position Stand 1998; Spirduso & Cronin, 2001; Taylor et al., 2004). The purpose of this review is therefore to clarify the importance of regular physical activity and training during the aging process and in addition, present the relationship between a physical active li…
Immagini devote del popolo indiano
2008
This volume, with the preface by Giovanni Filoramo, collects some of the sacred images of "Hinduism" of other religions born in India (Shikism, Buddhism), exhibited during the exhibition of the same name at the Antonio Pasqualino International Puppet Museum from November 22 to December 31. 2007. These cult images are venerated in temples, in private homes and on the streets throughout India. The central idea was to show the iconographic path that these paintings (or photographs) have had in the popular imagination. An informative caption corresponds to each "portrait".
'We can Only Teach from Our Own Experience': From Emotional Learning in Childhood and Adolescence to Emotional Training in Teachers
2018
The ability to understand and process emotional information is an important part of human functioning as it facilitates an adequate adjustment to the environment [1]. The development of emotional abilities, including the capacity to perceive, use, understand and manage emotions underlies social competence and performance [2]. For instance, accurate perception of another person's emotional state enhances the estimation and understanding of their intention and subsequent behavior, making it easier to respond accordingly [3]. Emotions can facilitate thought processes reinforces learning, concentration, and execution [4]. Understanding the meaning of emotions in a social context guides decision…
Symbolic play among children with autism spectrum disorder: a scoping review
2021
Symbolic play is considered an early indicator in the diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and its assessment. The objective of this study was to analyze the difficulties in symbolic play experienced by children with ASD and to determine the existence of differences in symbolic play among children with ASD, children with other neurodevelopmental disorders and children with typical development. A scoping review was carried out in the Web of Science (WoS), Scopus, ERIC, and PsycInfo databases, following the extension for scoping reviews of the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) statement. The number of papers included in the review was 22. The r…
Extraction of the mismatch negativity elicited by sound duration decrements: A comparison of three procedures
2009
This study focuses on comparison of procedures for extracting the brain event-related potentials (ERPs) - brain responses to stimuli recorded using electroencephalography (EEG). These responses are used to study how the synchronization of brain electrical responses is associated with cognition such as how the brain detects changes in the auditory world. One such event-related response to auditory change is called mismatch negativity (MMN). It is typically observed by computing a difference wave between ERPs elicited by a frequently repeated sound and ERPs elicited by an infrequently occurring sound which differs from the repeated sounds. Fast and reliable extraction of the ERPs, such as the…
The transition from agricultural to Biosystems Engineering University Studies in Europe
2011
This paper describes the main result produced by the ERABEE (Education & Research in Biosystems Engineering in Europe) Thematic Network. The ERABEE Thematic Network was a follow-up of a previous Thematic Network called USAEE (University Studies of Agricultural Engineering in Europe) and both were co-financed by the European Community in the framework of the LLP Programme (Lifelong Learning Programme). The innovative and novel goal of the ERABEE Network was to promote the critical and inevitable transition from the traditional discipline of Agricultural Engineering to the emerging discipline of Biosystems Engineering, exploiting along this direction the outcomes accomplished by the the earli…
Cheap Sensor Made of Multicrystalline Silicon for Insolation and Temperature Measurements
2016
Abstract In the paper some results on measurement of insolation and „real” cell’s temperature carried out with use of standard silicon solar cells are presented. Two identical cells are applied in such a sensor. Short circuit current of one cell is a direct indication of insolation value and open circuit voltage of the other cell is indirect indication of actual sensor’s temperature but in this case more complex formula must be used for temperature calculation.
Motivation and academic performance among first-graders : A person-oriented approach
2016
The present study applies a person-oriented approach to examine the motivational patterns children show on the basis of their reading- and math-related intrinsic value and self-concept of ability and how these patterns are related to their reading and math performance during the first grade of elementary school. The participants were 156 first grade children. The children were examined at the beginning and at the end of their first grade of elementary school. Five groups of children showing differing motivational patterns were identified using the ISOA procedure: Positive, Negative, Math-motivated, Reading-motivated, and Low interest but high belief. Children's motivational patterns were as…
