This contribution describes and compares three plans of Castellaccio respectively from 1739, from end-18th and end-19th century. The comparison shows the difference between the ancient surveys, which aim to provide an ideal image, and the modern ones, which document reality and represent it scientifically.

The article deals with the study of two projects of Eileen Gray, an architect who had turned her perception of reality into formal delicacy and Charlotte Perriand, who was able to promote the emphasis of collective and rational living. The article proposes the “graphic re-interpretation” or redrawing of some unbuilt Eileen Gray and Charlotte Perriand’s projects designed in response to the social problems arising in 1936. Their projects of minimum temporary houses are a manifesto through which they investigates other principles of the Modern Movement with the variety of composition of small spaces in relation to the inside well-being at the human scale. Il saggio affronta la ricostruzione virtuale delle crociere dell’aula della chiesa di San Domenico a Cagliari, distrutta nel 1943 dai bombardamenti alleati che colpirono la città. La ricostruzione virtuale, combinando gli strumenti dell’indagine storica e della rappresentazione digitale, è stata impiegata per comprendere il processo costruttivo della copertura dell’aula. The Cathedral of Palermo was built by the Norman Kings, in the place where a mosque had been erected by the muslim governors of Sicily. The church has many features recalling the norman churches in northern France and in England, whilst some others are due to the contamination of norman, muslim and byzantine culture, that is peculiar of the so-called “arab-norman” architecture of medieval Sicily. In the XVIth century the Cathedral has been enriched by additions that did not affect its medieval features: a portico and a sacristy on the southern front, a sculptural decoration in the main apse. This contribution aims to test the efficiency of a research methodology based on an interdisciplinary approach. This is to be achieved through the case study of the disappeared church of S. Nicolò alla Kalsa in Palermo, an imposing medieval building dating back to the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries and demolished after an earthquake in 1823. The reconstruction of the original configuration of this disappeared monument was achieved through traditional research sources and tools in the field of architectural and urban history, as well as architectural drawing, relying on both traditional and up-to-date digital technologies.
