Varying numbers of players in small-sided soccer games modifies action opportunities during training

This study examined the effects of the numbers of players involved in small-sided team games (underloading and overloading) on opportunities for maintaining ball possession, shooting at goal and passing to teammates during training. These practice constraint manipulations were assumed to alter values of key performance variables identified in previous research, such as interpersonal distances between players and time to intercept shots and passes. Optimal Mass Transport on Metric Graphs

We study an optimal mass transport problem between two equal masses on a metric graph where the cost is given by the distance in the graph. To solve this problem we find a Kantorovich potential as the limit of $p$-Laplacian--type problems in the graph where at the vertices we impose zero total flux boundary conditions. In addition, the approximation procedure allows us to find a transport density that encodes how much mass has to be transported through a given point in the graph, and also provides a simple formula of convex optimization for the total cost.

W artykule poddano analizie cechy osiedli mieszkaniowych w kontekście rozwoju zrównoważonego. Główny celem artykułu jest stwierdzenie, czy zasady rozwoju zrównoważonego są realizowane zwłaszcza w nowej i starej przestrzeni mieszkaniowej. Autorka próbowała ocenić opolską przestrzeń mieszkaniową w kontekście zrównoważonego osiedla mieszkaniowego. Dokonała porównania nowego i dawnego budownictwa mieszkaniowego uwzględniając kontekst zrównoważonej przestrzeni określanej za pomocą tzw. walking distance.
Migrations of hatchling European pond turtles (Emys orbicularis) after nest emergence

Distances between nest sites of Emys orbicularis and the nearest water bodies can be long. We studied whether a longer distance could affect the probability of hatchling survival, migration time, and body mass loss. In our research area (Lubuskie district, western Poland), nest sites were situated on a slope; the closest water body was in a distance of 72-290 m. Near the water body we constructed a 550 m long drift fence to recapture hatchlings migrating down the slope. We monitored 32 hatchlings from 7 different nests deposited in the years 2008-2010. The hatchlings started to emerge from their nests on 9 and 13 April 2009, 7 and 9 April 2010, 30 March, 7 and 8 April 2011. Then, hatchlings…
