Participation in the public debate constitutes one of the most evident avenues for political scientists to demonstrate the social relevance of the discipline. This article focuses on two questions: the types of roles political scientists adopt in their public interventions and the potential tensions between their public engagement and the epistemic norms regulating academic and research activities. Darba mērķis ir izpētīt caur mobilo aplikāciju iegūtas informācijas izmantošanu pierādīšanas procesā administratīvo pārkāpumu lietās un tādas informācijas attiecināmību, pieļaujamību un ticamību. Pētījuma rezultātā autors ir izdarījis secinājumus par pierādījumu jēdzienu, pierādījumu īpašībām un pētījuma ietvaros tiek secināts, ka, situācijā, ja lietā nav citu pierādījumu, kuri apstiprinātu pierādīšanas priekšmetā ietilpstošu faktu esamību, caur mobilo aplikāciju iegūtās informācijas ticamība ir apšaubāma. Lai šīs šaubas novērstu, nepieciešams iegūt papildus pierādījumus.

Arterial hypertension is a significant cause of end-stage renal failure; effective treatment of hypertensive patients reduces the rate of progression of this disorder. ss-Blockers, particularly nonselective agents, are associated with deterioration of renal function in patients with chronic renal failure. Previous studies on the interaction of the beta1-selective adrenergic antagonist bisoprolol with kidney function have been performed only acutely and over the short term. This study was designed to evaluate the antihypertensive efficacy and effects on renal hemodynamics and function of bisoprolol during medium-term (6 mo) treatment of patients with mild to moderate essential hypertension. …

ABSTRACT This paper analyzes the impact of innovative education tools-in this case, based on experimental methodology-on the acquisition of theoretical knowledge among management students. The study incorporates a clear split-sample design using two equivalent, randomly created groups. One group participates in a classroom experiment designed to illustrate the concept of the Phillips Curve, while the other participated in a traditional non-experimental lesson. How representative are referendums? Evidence from 20 years of Swiss referendums

Direct democracy allows citizens to reverse decisions made by legislatures and even initiate new laws which parliaments are unwilling to pass, thereby, as its proponents argue, leading to more representative policies than would have obtained under a purely representative democracy. Yet, turnout in referendums is usually lower than in parliamentary elections and tends to be skewed towards citizens of high socio-economic status. Consequently, critics of direct democracy argue that referendum outcomes may not be representative of the preferences of the population at large. This study is based on the articles published in the four main French academic journals (Comptabilité Contrôle Audit ; Finance Contrôle Stratégie ; Revue Française de Gestion ; Sciences de Gestion/Economies et Sociétés), between 1994 and 2003 (a ten-year period) and the academic cited works in these articles.
