Effects of an incremental maximal endurance exercise stress-induced cortisol on cognitive performance

2019

Exercise; Cognitive functions; Cortisol Ejercicio físico; Funciones cognitivas; Cortisol Exercici físic; Funcions cognitives; Cortisol Objectives: It can be hypothesized that cognitive performance decreases after fatigue protocol when it coincides with the maximum peak of cortisol. The first aim of this study was to elucidate the effects of a single bout of high intensity exercise on behavioural (i.e., attention and memory) and physiological (i.e., salivary cortisol) responses. The second objective was to evaluate the effect of the performance of the cognitive tasks on cortisol levels. Methods: Thirty-four physically active men (at least 5 days/week of physical activity practice) 38.11 (1.5…

Polyoxypregnanes as safe, potent, and specific ABCB1-inhibitory pro-drugs to overcome multidrug resistance in cancer chemotherapy in vitro and in vivo

2021

Multidrug resistance (MDR) mediated by ATP binding cassette subfamily B member 1 (ABCB1) is significantly hindering effective cancer chemotherapy. However, currently, no ABCB1-inhibitory drugs have been approved to treat MDR cancer clinically, mainly due to the inhibitor specificity, toxicity, and drug interactions. Here, we reported that three polyoxypregnanes (POPs) as the most abundant constituents of Marsdenia tenacissima (M. tenacissima) were novel ABCB1-modulatory pro-drugs, which underwent intestinal microbiota-mediated biotransformation in vivo to generate active metabolites. The metabolites at non-toxic concentrations restored chemosensitivity in ABCB1-overexpressing cancer cells v…

Zasada praworządności wyznacznikiem kontroli działań administracji publicznej realizowanej przez prokuratora w ramach postępowania administracyjnego

2018

Opus iustitiae PAX – the properly shaped dimension of justice is a guarantee of peaceful – not based on a conflict and violence – relations between citizens and the state. These words fully reflect the leading thought of this study. It is the concern for a good law and a state governed by the rule of law, which lies at the foundation of actions taken within the scope of legal means by the Prosecutor’s Office that – as the “custodian of law” – is entitled to in the sphere of control over administration. Administrative courts execute justice as a separate part of judicial power. Justice and law are conditions for an effective state, good governance and social peace, which have accompanied us …

The European Regional Convergence Process, 1980-1995: Do Spatial Regimes and Spatial Dependence Matter?

2002

International audience; The authors show that spatial dependence and spatial heterogeneity matter in the estimation of the ß-convergence process among 138 European regions over the 1980 to 1995 period. Using spatial econometrics tools, the authors detect both spatial dependence and spatial heterogeneity in the form of structural instability across spatial convergence clubs. The estimation of the appropriate spatial regimes spatial error model shows that the convergence process is different across regimes. The authors also estimate a strongly significant spatial spillover effect: the average growth rate of per capita GDP of a given region is positively affected by the average growth rate of …

The relationship between organizational interdependency and additionality obtained from innovation ecosystem participation

2019

Abstract Despite the increased interest in innovation ecosystems, few studies have assessed the extent to which the proclaimed benefits from participating in such ecosystems also occur, and under which circumstances they do occur. Uniting the literature on organizational interdependence and social exchange theory, we assess the behavioral and output additionality obtained by innovation ecosystem participants. In doing so, we build upon a sample of 473 innovative Finnish companies, of which 312 participated in an innovation ecosystem. We find a significantly positive relationship between organizational interdependence and output additionality, and find that this relationship is mediated by b…

Tiocianātjonu masas koncentrācijas noteikšana smēķētāju un nesmēķētāju siekalās

2018

Tiocianātjonu masas koncentrācijas noteikšana smēķētāju un nesmēķētāju siekalās. Trokša V., darba vadītāja docente, Dr. chem. Osīte A. Bakalaura darbs. 27 lappuses, 6 attēli, 8 tabulas, 12 literatūras avoti, 2 pielikumi. Latviešu valodā. Literatūras apskatā aprakstīts tiocianātjonu veidošanās mehānisms cilvēka organismā, tiocianātjonu alternatīvās uzņemšanas iespējas un to noteikšanas iespējas.

2022

“Metālisko elementu analīze dzīvojamo telpu gaisa putekļos”. Švinska J., darba vadītāja, docente, Dr.Chem. Osīte A. Bakalaura darbs, 38 lapas, 11 attēli, 3 tabulas, 34 literatūras avoti, 4 pielikumi. Latviešu valodā. Darbā tiek apskatīta dzīvojamo telpu gaisa kvalitāte, raksturojot metālisko elementu saturu telpu putekļos. Eksperimentālajā daļā veikta dažādu putekļu paraugu ievākšana, apstrāde un analīze, izmantojot ICP-MS metodi. Rezultātu sadaļā analizēts kā dažādi faktori ietekmē metālisko elementu koncentrāciju dzīvojamo telpu putekļos.
