Healthcare trajectory mining by combining multidimensional component and itemsets

Sequential pattern mining is aimed at extracting correlations among temporal data. Many different methods were proposed to either enumerate sequences of set valued data (i.e., itemsets) or sequences containing multidimensional items. However, in real-world scenarios, data sequences are described as events of both multidimensional items and set valued information. Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics is a meshless particle method able to evaluate unknown field functions and relative differential operators. This evaluation is done by performing an integral representation based on a suitable smoothing kernel function which, in the discrete formulation, involves a set of particles scattered in the problem domain. On the existence of the exponential solution of linear differential systems

The existence of an exponential representation for the fundamental solutions of a linear differential system is approached from a novel point of view. A sufficient condition is obtained in terms of the norm of the coefficient operator defining the system. The condition turns out to coincide with a previously published one concerning convergence of the Magnus series expansion. Direct analysis of the general evolution equations in the SU(N) Lie group illustrates how the estimate for the domain of existence/convergence becomes larger. Eventually, an application is done for the Baker-Campbell-Hausdorff series.

OPLA scaffold, collagen I, and horse serum induce a higher degree of myogenic differentiation of adult rat cardiac stem cells

In the last few years, a major goal of cardiac research has been to drive stem cell differentiation to replace damaged myocardium. Several research groups have attempted to differentiate potential cardiac stem cells (CSCs) using bi- or three-dimensional systems supplemented with growth factors or molecules acting as differentiating substances. We hypothesize that these systems failed to induce a complete differentiation because they lacked an architectural space. In the present study, we isolated a pool of small proliferating and fibroblast-like cells from adult rat myocardium. It has been a very long trip since I wrote my last editorial. The first issue of the Journal received a strong welcome from all over the world in the beginning of 2016, but there was something missing that drove us to a winding road that ended in an even stronger situation: the support of the University of Valencia’s Publication Service (UVPS). The missing thing in the first issue was the DOI (Digital Object Identifier). All the online journals have a DOI to identify the papers and allow a permanent link to them.
