Exotic Spin-Orbital Physics in Hybrid Oxides

We compare the effective spin-orbital super\-exchange triggered by magnetic $3d$ impurities with $d^3$ and $d^2$ configurations and either no orbital degree of freedom (orbital dilution) or hole replacing a doublon (charge dilution) in a $4d^4$ Mott insulator with $S=1$ spins. Impurities causing orbital dilution act either as spin defects decoupled from the surrounding ions, or generate orbital polarons along $d^3$-$d^4$ hybrid bonds. The exchange on these bonds determines which orbital is occupied by a doublon on the host site. In case of charge dilution by $3d^2$ impurities additional $\propto T_i^+T_j^+$ terms arise which enhance orbital fluctuations. We show that such terms may radicall…

Doping violates the Spirit of Sport and is thought to contradict the values which underpin this spirit. Values-based education (VBE) has been cited as a key element for creating a clean sport culture across age groups. Culturally relevant VBE requires understanding of the values that motivate athletes from different countries to practice their sport and uphold clean sport values. WADA's new International Standards for Education makes this study both needed and timely. Overall, 1,225 athletes from Germany, Greece, Italy, Russia, and the UK responded to measures assessing their general values, Spirit of Sport values, and their perceived importance of "clean sport". W artykule przedstawiono wyniki aproksymacji przykładowych danych pomiaru prawdopodobieństwa odbioru sygnału NIEBEZPIECZEŃSTWO. Prawdopodobieństwo to rozpatruje się jako funkcję odległości pomiędzy statkiem powietrznym a systemem naziemnym w ustalonych warunkach pomiaru. Aproksymację danych pomiarowych zrealizowano korzystając z własności funkcji logistycznej. Prawdopodobieństwo jako funkcja odległości pozwala na określenie zasięgu sygnału NIEBEZPIECZEŃSTWO dla zadanego poziomu ufności.

Le questioni prese in considerazione sono: struttura e soggetti del reato di surrogazione (di cui si propone una lettura piuttosto innovativa); punibilità del fatto commesso all'estero; applicabilità delle norme sulla alterazione di stato (o su altri tipi di falso), in caso di nascita su surrogazione registrata all'estero.

Chemical defences often vary within and between populations both in quantity and quality, which is puzzling if prey survival is dependent on the strength of the defence. We investigated the within- and between-population variability in chemical defence of the wood tiger moth (Arctia plantaginis). The major components of its defences, SBMP (2-sec-butyl-3-methoxypyrazine) and IBMP (2-isobutyl-3-methoxypyrazine), are volatiles that deter bird attacks.
