An efficient grid-based RF fingerprint positioning algorithm for user location estimation in heterogeneous small cell networks

2014

This paper proposes a novel technique to enhance the performance of grid-based Radio Frequency (RF) fingerprint position estimation framework. First enhancement is an introduction of two overlapping grids of training signatures. As the second enhancement, the location of the testing signature is estimated to be a weighted geometric center of a set of nearest grid units whereas in a traditional grid-based RF fingerprinting only the center point of the nearest grid unit is used for determining the user location. By using the weighting-based location estimation, the accuracy of the location estimation can be improved. The performance evaluation of the enhanced RF fingerprinting algorithm was c…

Organisational Drivers and Challenges in Circular Economy Implementation : An Issue Life Cycle Approach

2022

Business is a significant cause of various global sustainability challenges addressed by the Circular Economy (CE), making companies instrumental in the transition from a linear economic model to a circular one. While drivers and challenges in corporate CE implementation have been researched on an organisational level, a more detailed understanding is needed regarding their contextual nature and interplay with the evolution of CE implementation in a company. Utilising issue life cycle theory, this study contributes to the literature on CE implementation in business by displaying differences in corporate CE implementation drivers and challenges, relating to the time since starting, and the …

Combining Social Service and Healthcare as the First Country in the World : Exploring the Impacts on Information Systems

2018

The Finnish government has decided to implement a reform in the social and healthcare system by combining the two in the future. There are several drivers for this change that have been identified. Large number of information systems that are not interoperable, challenges in data management and isolated service offering are the most significant ones. In the government’s strategy for the future the digitalisation will provide tools to solve these challenges. In this paper the landscape is outlined and the architecture choices are discussed. The enterprise architecture is applied for the largest county comprising of over 1900 social service and healthcare related information systems. The targ…

Exploring the Critical Success Factors in Social and Health Care Information Systems Project Procurement

2020

A welfare reform involving the mixing of social and health services is being introduced by the Finnish government. Several factors have been identified for this shift, the most relevant of which is that many information systems are not interoperable and data-related problems have been identified. Management and isolated offers of service. Digitalizing to solve these issues is part of the government’s policy. This paper outlines the change landscape and explores the architectural options of the proposed digitalisation process and crucial success factors. The Undertaking The design is applied to the largest county, which consists of over 1,900 information systems related to social support and…

Human Resources – A Value Driven Perspective

2019

The information age has changed many of the “classical” business activities by altering the core values and management principles. Human resources management has also changed and has adapted to the new challenges of the 21st -century information age. The hunt for knowledge and for the determined business value is driven by more complex and far-reaching human resources activities. Companies must change their “classic” view on human resources to prevail and to be successful in the new complex and speed century. Human resources have changed its old working principles to fit the requirements of constant data, information, and knowledge “hunting” and morphed to a proactive and dynamic business v…

Inkluzja podejścia projektowego w proces tworzenia innowacji

2016

The project-driven approach becomes more and more important way in achie- ving operational and strategic objectives and the manner of the general improvement of the enterprise performance, including the field of innovation management. The paper pre- sents the idea of "innovation project machine". The aim of the paper is to verify the pro- ject-driven approach in the process of creating innovative solutions. The arguments pre- sented in the article show that these two ways of working can be combined into an "inno- vation project machine" The „innovation project machine" can capture new ideas more ef- fectively and execute innovation, inspired by agile project management and with learning for…

CORRELATION ANALYSIS FOR TOURISM HEDONIC AND UTILITARIAN MOTIVATORS IN THE DECISION MAKING PROCESSÂ

2013

For centuries, the marketing concept claims that organizations must forecast and satisfy consumer needs if their goals are to make profit and develop a connection with their customers. The marketing concept plays a vital role because consumers have a variety of choices and lately, they are better educated, with eagerness in spending and they are capable to shop around much more in order to purchase everything that satisfy their needs and expectations. In this line of ideas, this study examines correlations between consumer motivators to buy a tourism package.

Laboratory formation of a scaled protostellar jet by coaligned poloidal magnetic field

2014

International audience; Although bipolar jets are seen emerging from a wide variety of astrophysical systems, the issue of their formation and morphology beyond their launching is still under study. Our scaled laboratory experiments, representative of young stellar object outflows, reveal that stable and narrow collimation of the entire flow can result from the presence of a poloidal magnetic field whose strength is consistent with observations. The laboratory plasma becomes focused with an interior cavity. This gives rise to a standing conical shock from which the jet emerges. Following simulations of the process at the full astrophysical scale, we conclude that it can also explain recentl…

The transformation of R&D into neo open innovation- a new concept in R&D endeavor triggered by amazon

2019

Amazon was the world's top Research and Development (R&D) firm in 2017. Its R&D investment was double that of 2015, five times that of 2012, and ten times that of 2011. Such a rapid and notable increase in R&D investment has raised the question of a new R&D definition and focus in the digital economy, which Amazon insists includes both “routine or periodic alterations” (traditionally classified as non-R&D) and “significant improvement” (classified as R&D). Using an empirical analysis of Amazon's R&D model as a system, this paper attempts to provide a convincing answer to this question. It has been identified that Amazon, which is based on R&D as a culture, has been promoting companywide exp…

Driver Distraction Detection Using Bidirectional Long Short-Term Network Based on Multiscale Entropy of EEG

2022

Driver distraction diverting drivers' attention to unrelated tasks and decreasing the ability to control vehicles, has aroused widespread concern about driving safety. Previous studies have found that driving performance decreases after distraction and have used vehicle behavioral features to detect distraction. But how brain activity changes while distraction remains unknown. Electroencephalography (EEG), a reliable indicator of brain activities has been widely employed in many fields. However, challenges still exist in mining the distraction information of EEG in realistic driving scenarios with uncertain information. In this paper, we propose a novel framework based on Multi-scale entrop…
