In the last decades, the notion of the landscape has been widely expanded. This has led to a meaningless position according to which landscape does not exist because it is everywhere. The essay attempts to balance the useful new amplified conception of landscape. The ideas of Gilles Clement, the fusion of architecture and landscape symptomatically achieved by Alvaro Siza's Leca swimming pools are considered. Finally, focus is given to modern so-called landscape urbanism.

The present contribution intends to propose an epistemological reflection on the links relationships that interweave the map, cultural heritage, landscape, and places. We have indentified an interpretative horizon that intersects the scientific geographic debate with the literary subject and we have proposed a specific reading of the site of Old Gibellina, in Sicily, where reality and representation seem to converge. The contribution explains the specific condition of the Park of the "Appennino Lucano Val d'Agri Laonegrese" in Southern Italy (Basilicata) taking into account the concept of "Right to the Landscape". It is used to show how a process of territorial planning of the Park can be an opportunity to rethink the creation of landscapes under the light of conditions related to uses agricultural and energy resources of the territory, in a compatible way with the protection of nature.
