The editorial function of the territorial intelligence systems

This communication makes an updating of our thinking about the editorial function of the systems of territorial intelligence. Computer science and information systems aim at increasing the communication between the human beings. A territorial intelligence system is an instrument at the service of the actors who ambition to control the development the equitable and sustainable development of their territory. Thin-layer chromatography of 2-methyl-4-chlorophenoxyacetic acid and its soil metabolites

Abstract The thin-layer chromatography of 2-methyl-4-chlorophenoxyacetic acid, 4-chloro- o -cresol and 3-methyl-5-chlorocatechol and their pentafluorobenzyl derivatives has been studied on silica gel as adsorbent with 19 solvent systems. The best separation of the individual components occurred with toluene-benzene-acetic acid (2:2:1). Chloroform-diethyl ether-toluene (1:1:1) was suitable for the group separation of the pentafluorobenzyl derivatives.

The behaviour of REEs in Thailand's Mae Klong estuary: Suggestions from the Y/Ho ratios and lanthanide tetrad effects

Abstract The concentrations of Rare Earth Elements and yttrium (REY) were measured in dissolved phase, in suspended particulate matter (SPM) and in sediments in seven sampling stations in the Mae Klong estuarine system (Inner Thailand Gulf) in order to study their behaviour and distribution pattern. The analysed samples generally show high Rare Earth Element (REE) content in the dissolved phase, with high Medium Rare Earth Elements (MREEs) and Y enrichments in the shale-normalized pattern (versus PAAS). Protein Corona: Prevention of Dominant IgG Adsorption on Nanocarriers in IgG‐Enriched Blood Plasma by Clusterin Precoating (Adv. Sci. 10/2019)

The development of nanocarriers for drug delivery is challenged by individual blood composition fluctuations. In article number 1802199, Svenja Morsbach and co‐workers report the accumulation of immunoglobulins in the protein corona of nanocarriers in IgG‐enriched blood plasma resulting in increased cell uptake. This could be prevented by pre‐coating the nanocarriers with the “stealth” protein clusterin. Cover design by Stefan Schuhmacher.

Coupling of electrochemical, electrogravimetric and surface analysis techniques to study dithiocarbamate/bronze interactions in chloride media

International audience; Interaction between ammonium pyrrolidinedithiocarbamate (PDTC) and bronze in 30 g L-1 NaCl was investigated at several concentrations between 0.1 and 10 mM by means of various electrochemical and spectroscopic techniques. Electrochemical measurements revealed a fast adsorption process of PDTC on Cu and Pb and the formation of a thick insulating and protective film with a high surface coverage. At high concentrations, PDTC prevents oxides formation. Surface analyses confirm PDTC adsorption on bronze mainly via interaction between sulphur atoms and Cu sites to form Cu I-PDTC complex.

Abstract A magnetically separable support with core-shell morphology comprising amine-functionalized Fe3O4 wrapped with graphene oxide (AFG) was successfully prepared and used to support MIL-101(Fe). The ternary AFG@MIL-101(Fe) composite was investigated as a photo-Fenton catalyst for the degradation of recalcitrant diazinon (DIZ) and atrazine (ATZ) pesticides. After 105 min visible light irradiation, the AFG@30MIL-101(Fe) photocatalyst achieved 100 ± 1% and 81 ± 1% photocatalytic degradation efficiency for DIZ and ATZ pollutants, respectively. Extensive molecular dynamics simulations reveal that the interactions between proteins and poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) can be described in terms of the surface composition of the proteins. PEG molecules accumulate around non-polar residues while avoiding the polar ones. A solvent-accessible-surface-area model of protein adsorption accurately fits a large set of data on the composition of the protein corona of poly(ethylene glycol)- and poly(phosphoester)-coated nanoparticles recently obtained by label-free proteomic mass spectrometry.

Adsorption of gaseous p-xylene and m-xylene on NaY, KY, and BaY zeolites: Part 1. Adsorption equilibria of pure xylenes

Abstract Isothermal and isobaric adsorptions of p -xylene and m -xylene on NaY, KY, and BaY are studied by thermogravimetry between 25°C and 400°C, and 10 Pa and 1014 Pa. At low filling BaY shows a stronger affinity for xylenes than the other zeolites. At high temperature and low pressure its adsorption capacity is greater than those of NaY and KY. These two zeolites have a similar behavior and adsorb more m -xylene than p -xylene. At low temperature and high pressure KY adsorbs p -xylene like NaY and m -xylene like BaY, and, unlike NaY, the adsorption capacities of KY and BaY are higher for p -xylene than for m -xylene. Fine-Tuning of the film thickness of ultrathin multilayer films composed of consecutively alternating layers of anionic and cationic polyelectrolytes

We have recently introduced a new method of creating ultrathin films [1–3] based on the electrostatic attraction between opposite charges. Consecutively, alternating adsorption of anionic and cationic polyelectrolytes leads to the formation of multilayer assemblies. Multilayer buildup is easily monitored by small angle x-ray scattering (SAXS). Cadmium and Copper Removal by a Granular Activated Carbon in Laboratory Column Systems

Single and competitive removal of Cd and Cu from aqueous solutions by using Darco 12–20 mesh granular activated carbon in column systems has been investigated. Seven experiments modifying the initial pH and the flow rate were performed. Results showed the efficiency of activated carbon as a sorbent for both metals. pH is shown to be the decisive parameter on metal removal in the column; metal removal increases when the influent pH value is raised. The influence of the flow rate for the experimental conditions is negligible. Batch adsorption and column data are compared. Column modeling assuming local equilibrium and rate-controlled pore diffusion was performed.
