Crowdboard: An Augmented Whiteboard to Support Large-Scale Co-Design

Co-design efforts attempt to account for many diverse viewpoints. However, design teams lack support for meaningful real-time interaction with a large community of potential stakeholders. We present Crowdboard, a novel whiteboard system that enables many potential stakeholders to provide real-time input during early-stage design activities, such as concept mapping. Local design teams develop ideas on a standard whiteboard, which is augmented with annotations and comments from online participants. The system makes it possible for design teams to solicit real-time opinions and ideas from a community of people intrinsically motivated to shape the product/service.

Integration of Metal Organic Chemical Vapour Deposition and Wet Chemical Techniques to Obtain Highly Ordered Porous ZnO Nanoplatforms

Large-area, highly ordered ZnO micropores-arrays consisting of ZnO nanotubes delimited by ZnO nanorods have been successfully fabricated and tested for protein sensing applications. ZnO seed layers have been deposited by Metal Organic Chemical Vapour Deposition and readily patterned by Colloidal Lithography to attain ZnO nanorods growth at selective sites by Chemical Bath Deposition. The used synthetic approach has been proven effective for the easy assembly of ZnO nanoplatforms into high-density arrays. This paper analyses the effects of partially revocable endogenous commitments of a seller in a negotiation with a deadline. In particular, we examine when commitment is a source of strength, a source of inefficiency and when it does not affect the bargaining outcome at all. We show that when commitment possesses a minimum amount of irrevocability this crucially determines the bargaining outcome. In the bilateral bargaining case, commitment becomes a source of inefficiency since it causes a deadline effect. Pb(II) adsorption by a novel activated carbon - alginate composite material. A kinetic and equilibrium study.

The adsorption capacity of an activated carbon – calcium alginate composite material (ACAA-Ca) has been tested with the aim of developing a new and more efficient adsorbent material to remove Pb(II) ion from aqueous solution. The study was carried out at pH = 5, in NaCl medium and in the ionic strength range 0.1–0.75 mol L−1. Differential Pulse Anodic Stripping Voltammetry (DP-ASV) technique was used to check the amount of Pb(II) ion removed during kinetic and equilibrium experiments. Recursive and bargaining values

Abstract We introduce two families of values for TU-games: the recursive and bargaining values. Bargaining values are obtained as the equilibrium payoffs of the symmetric non-cooperative bargaining game proposed by Hart and Mas-Colell (1996). We show that bargaining values have a recursive structure in their definition, and we call this property recursiveness. All efficient, linear, and symmetric values that satisfy recursiveness are called recursive values. We generalize the notions of potential, and balanced contributions property, to characterize the family of recursive values. There are many studies that encourage the use of mobile device solutions to improve the skills of people with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). There are a number of apps that may be useful for people with ASD, some specifically designed for them, and others not. How Vulnerable is the Reaction Time Concealed Information Test to Faking?

The reaction time-based Concealed Information Test (RT-CIT) can be used to detect information a suspect wishes to conceal. While it is often argued that it is easily faked, empirical research on its vulnerability to faking is scarce. In three experiments, we tested whether receiving faking instructions enables guilty participants to fake an innocent test outcome in an RT-CIT. In Experiment 1, when not using a response deadline, we found the RT-CIT to be vulnerable to faking (d = 1.06). Experiment 2 showed that when using a response deadline, faking was ineffective (d = −0.25).
