They take advantage of a photoelectrochemical system to transform solar radiation into electric energy. Light Soaking measurements on Ruthenium-based Dye Sensitized Solar Cells

An interesting phenomenon occurring in Dye Sensitized Solar Cells (DSSCs) when exposed to an uninterrupted period of illumination is the so-called light soaking effect, which consists in the increase of the main electrical parameters of the cell, such as the photocurrent and the efficiency. Studying such an effect has noteworthy practical implications, ranging from the optimization of the manufacturing process to stability tests of DSSCs. In this paper, we present an experimental investigation on the performance variation, due to light soaking, of Ruthenium-based DSSCs.

Haastateltavina olleet 5 maahanmuuttajaa (iältään 20 – 54-vuotiaita) osallistuivat henkilökohtaisiin teemahaastatteluihin asuin tai työpaikkakunnallaan. Tämän tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli tarkastella kaksikielisyyden ja identiteetin välistä suhdetta. Tutkielmassa haluttiin selvittää millainen perusidentiteetti sekä kielellinen identiteetti kaksikielisillä ihmisillä on. Tutkimus tehtiin laadullisena tapaustutkimuksena ja tutkimusmateriaali kerättiin teemahaastattelun avulla, jossa oli myös vaikutteita syvähaastattelusta. Tutkimukseen osallistui kuusi nykyisin Keski-Suomessa asuvaa eri-ikäistä miestä ja naista, joista kolme oli suomenruotsalaista ja kolme ruotsinsuomalaista. Tämän pro gradu -tutkielman tarkoituksena on selvittää kohdekielisessä maassa tapahtuvan opiskelijavaihdon vaikutuksia ruotsin ja saksan opiskelijoiden ääntämiseen, eli muuttuuko ääntäminen ja millaisia mahdolliset muutokset ovat. Tutkimukseen osallistui neljä ruotsin ja neljä saksan opiskelijaa, jotka olivat opiskelijavaihdossa yhden lukukauden ajan Ruotsissa tai Saksassa. Tutkimusmateriaali koostuu luetusta puheesta, joka kerättiin ennen ja jälkeen opiskelijavaihdon. Effect of temperature on anaerobic treatment of black water in UASB-septic tank systems

The effect of northern European seasonal temperature changes and low temperature on the performance of upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB)-septic tanks treating black water was studied. Three UASB-septic tanks were monitored with different operational parameters and at different temperatures. The results indicated the feasibility of the UASB-septic tank for (pre)treatment of black water at low temperatures with respect to removal of suspended solids and dissolved organic material. Inoculum sludge had little effect on COD(ss) removal, though in the start-up phase some poorly adapted inoculum disintegrated and washed out, thus requiring consideration when designing the process. The present investigation addresses the gravity of mispronunciation for the intelligibility of English spoken by L1 Finland-Swedish teenagers. Previous research on the topic has been scarce, and even though there is some knowledge about the typical pronunciation challenges faced by this learner group, there is hardly any empirical research on the extent to which the typical mispronunciations actually cause misunderstandings. To investigate this, speech samples were elicited from teenaged L1 Finland-Swedish learners of English, demonstrating typical mispronunciations.
