Very narrow-bandwidth tunable infrared difference frequency generation with injection-locked dye lasers
1989
Two flashlamp pumped dye lasers of very high spectral quality are mixed in a LiIO3 crystal to generate a tunable infrared beam through the difference frequency mixing. Thanks to the injection-locking process of the pulsed dye lasers leading to a linewidth of 6 MHz with peak powers of about 10 kW, we obtain an IR beam tunable from 3.5 to 5.9 μm with a peak power of 40 W and a linewidth of 9 MHz. As an application we present a spectrum of N2O obtained by differential absorption near 1880 cm−1. The lines of thisQ-branch are Doppler limited at the working pressure (102 Pa).
Descriptive and hedonic temporal sensory analysis
2016
Over the last years, so-called rapid methods for sensory evaluation have been developed to collect sensory description of products from consumers. Moving forward in this direction, this thesis proposes to pair Temporal Dominance of Sensations (TDS) with dynamic liking. This new method, named Temporal Drivers of Liking (TDL), highlights sensory drivers of consumer liking and determines how the dynamic perception can impact the hedonic response. This work proposes to compute the Liking While Dominant (LWD) score as the average liking scores given to a product while a given attribute was perceived as dominant and to look at its deviation from the mean liking score of this product. When signifi…
On the Non-Intrusive Load Monitoring in dwellings: a feasibility perspective
2021
The oncoming modernization process of the power grids, driven above all by decarbonisation objectives and the continuous improvement of digital technologies, is encouraging active participation in the electricity market by consumers through the Demand-Response mechanism. From this perspective, the introduction of smart meters and energy consumption monitoring devices plays a fundamental role, being able to give benefits to consumers, suppliers and the electricity grid itself. This paper proposes a supervised method of non-intrusive load monitoring (NILM) based on the recognition of patterns in the time domain with the Dynamic Time Warping algorithm which is suitable for low-cost smart meter…
Application of a non linear local analysis method for the problem of mixed convection instability
2007
Abstract We consider the problem of laminar mixed convection flow between parallel, vertical and uniformly heated plates where the governing dimensionless parameters are the Prandtl, Rayleigh and Reynolds numbers. Using the method based on the centre manifold theorem which was derived from the general theory of dynamical systems, we reduce a three-dimensional simplified model of ordinary differential amplitude equations emanating from the original Navier-Stokes system of the problem in the vicinity of a trivial stationary solution. We have found that when the forcing parameter, the Rayleigh number, increases beyond the critical value Ra s , the stationary solution is a pitchfork bifurcation…

How do a sample of headteachers and pedagogical leaders understand the parts of the learning area ‘ethics, religion and philosophy’ (ERF) related to religion and religious heritage and tradition in early childhood education? And how do they implement them in practice? We have interviewed employees from 19 kindergartens in Agder and Oslo, and analyzed relevant pedagogical documents, to get answers. The informants came from both public kindergartens and private kindergartens with special objectives. In the private kindergartens, most informants expressed that religion and religious heritage and tradition were integrated in the pedagogical day to day work, with use of a large degree of a didac…
