The “Law in Context” for (Stepchild) Adoption in Same-Sex Couples: The Italian Models

This essay focuses on a recent development in Italian family law with respect to stepchild adoption in cases involving same-sex couples. Resorting to arguments of both the continuity of the affective relationship and the best interests of the child, courts have been willing to permit adoptions in these cases under Article 44 of L. 184/1983 (“Adoption Act”), which provides for “adoption in particular cases” (“APC”). The essay links the circular time of festivals with the theoretical activity of philosophy. To this goal, it examines the relation among play, festival, and experience of truth in Gadamer starting with a confrontation between Aristotle’s conception of the relation between play and philosophy and Gadamer’s own conception. The essay then shows how, by focusing anew on the religious origin of holidays, Perone further develops the temporal character of philosophy, which unfolds precisely in philosophy’s unavoidable tension with the eternal.

Non-structural measures for flood risk mitigation are often more economically accessible, easier to implement, and are highly effective, especially in view of the pursuit of risk resilience objectives. Among the non-structural measures, more importance is increasingly being attributed to flood proofing interventions. There are two main types of flood proofing: dry proofing and wet proofing. Pro gradu -tutkielman kirjallinen osa keskittyy aromaattisiin, amidisidoksellisiin foldameereihin ja erityisesti amidi-, imidi- ja hydratsidifoldameereihin. Synteesien ja menetelmien sijaan osuudessa on paneuduttu foldameerien laskostumiseen vaikuttaviin tekijöihin, kuten vetysidoksiin, kiraaliseen induktioon ja kompleksoitumiseen. Tämän lisäksi myös foldameerien solubiologista vuorovaikutusta on tuotu esiin. Kokeellinen osa keskittyy kahden aromaattisen amidifoldameerin synteeseihin ja niistä saatujen tuotteiden kiteyttämisiin ja kiderakenteisiin.
