The article constitutes a prolegomenon to the issue of the service of Silesian Evangelicals in the Swedish army during the Great Northern War (1700 –1721), which has so far been absent in scholarly literature. The main objective of this text is to analyse their motives for joining the military service of the Kingdom of Sweden, as well as to trace their career and position in the officer corps. The essay addresses the issue of the so called Internet Service Provider's Liability under artt. 12-14 dir. 00/31, with specific regard to the violations of copyright. The study aims at demonstrating that European Law on ISP is not a law on tort, but regulates a sphere of lawful action in favor of Internet Service Providers. The analysis of the Court of Justice's case-law reveals that the primary remedy against offenses committed on the internet is an injunction, while damages are only a secondary relief. Total Synthesis of Lavendamycin by a [2+2+2] Cycloaddition

The total synthesis of the bacterial-derived, pentacyclic, antitumor antibiotic lavendamycin has been achieved through a highly convergent strategy. The key step of this synthesis is a ruthenium-catalyzed [2+2+2] cycloaddition of an electron-deficient nitrile to an alkynyl-ynamide to prepare the carboline scaffold. The elaborate cycloaddition substrate is obtained in few steps by an N-ethynylation using alkynyliodonium salt chemistry and two palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions. An efficient synthesis of a halogenated quinoline-5,8-dione building block starting from hydroquinone is presented.

Catalysts containing urea, thiourea and tertiary amine groups fold into a three-dimensional organized structure in solution both in the absence as well as in the presence of substrates or substrate analogues, as indicated by solution NMR and computational studies. These foldamer catalysts promote Mannich reactions with both aliphatic and aromatic imines and malonate esters. Hammett plot and secondary kinetic isotope effects provide evidence for the C-C bond forming event as the turnoverlimiting step of the Mannich reaction. A growing body of evidence shows that Insulin, Insulin Receptor (IR) and IR signaling are involved in brain cognitive functions and their dysfunction is implicated in Alzheimer's disease (AD) neurodegeneration. Thus, administration of insulin could be a strategy for AD treatment. For this aim we have designed, synthesized and characterized a nanogel system (NG) that has been conjugated to insulin molecules (NG-In) to deliver the protein into the brain, as a tool for the development of a new therapy against AD.
