The effects on riding performance using active vs passive recovery during a simulated motocross race

2017

Aleix Ollé Casanovas. 2017. The effects on riding performance using active vs passive recovery during a simulated motocross race. University of Jyväskylä. 53p. The aim of the present study was to examine the effect of active and passive recovery methods in order to improve physical performance between motocross races. Exercise induced muscle damage post motocross racing was assessed as well. Participants performed 2 races of 30 minutes with one hour break in between. During the break they performed either active or passive recovery protocols. Specific motocross performance outcomes and athlete’s physical conditions were measured during, and before and after every motocross race. Lap times (…

Progressive non-linear damage of variable angle tow composite plates by a Ritz approach

2022

In this work a Ritz model for progressive non-linear damage analysis of variable angle tow composite plates is presented. The damage is treated in the framework of continuum damage mechanics and its evolution is based on a linear softening law with which four damage indices are computed for degrading the mechanical properties of the material. A set of analyses have been carried out to investigate how damage evolves in VAT composite plates under progressive loading.

Neuronal effects of Sugammadex in combination with Rocuronium or Vecuronium.

2017

Rocuronium (ROC) and Vecuronium (VEC) are the most currently used steroidal non-depolarizing neuromuscular blocking (MNB) agents. Sugammadex (SUG) rapidly reverses steroidal NMB agents after anaesthesia. The present study was conducted in order to evaluate neuronal effects of SUG alone and in combination with both ROC and VEC. Using MTT, CASP-3 activity and Western-blot we determined the toxicity of SUG, ROC or VEC in neurons in primary culture. SUG induces apoptosis/necrosis in neurons in primary culture and increases cytochrome C (CytC), apoptosis-inducing factor (AIF), Smac/Diablo and Caspase 3 (CASP-3) protein expression. Our results also demonstrated that both ROC and VEC prevent these…

Electrical conductivity of glass fiber-reinforced plastic with nanomodified matrix for damage diagnostic

2021

The electrical conductivity of glass fiber-reinforced plastic (GFRP) with epoxy matrix modified by multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) was studied. The electrical conductivity of nanomodified lamina and multi-layered GFRP was investigated on several levels using a structural approach. Components of the electrical conductivity tensor for unidirectional-reinforced monolayer were calculated similarly as in micromechanics using the conductivity of the nanomodified matrix. The electrical conductivity of multilayer composite was calculated using laminate theory and compared with values measured experimentally for various fiber orientation angles. Calculated and experimental data were in good agree…

Emine Sevgi Özdamar und SAID: zwei Beispiele der Multikulturalität?

2016

This essay examines the novel Seltsame Sterne starren zur Erde (2003) of the Turkish-German author Emine Sevgi Özdamar and the collection of essays In Deutschland leben (2004) of Iranian-German poet SAID. The focus of this work intends to show what different aspects multiculturalism may have at each different writers. Özdamar was born in Malatya in 1946. She woked in Germany as an actress, director and writer and became the symbol of a bridge-builder between the eastern and western culture. SAID is one of the most important contemporary Iranian authors. He was born in 1947 in Teheran, he came to Munich as a student in 1965, and this city is now his residence. He received many literary prize…
