Enzymatic activity of circular sortase A under denaturing conditions: An advanced tool for protein ligation

Abstract Staphylococcus aureus sortase A is a transpeptidase that is extensively used in various protein research applications. Sortase A is highly selective and does not require any cofactors for the catalysis of protein ligation and, importantly, can be produced in high yields. However, the primary disadvantage of this transpeptidase is its inability to access the recognition site within the highly structured regions of folded substrates. AbstractIn this chapter we examine a foreign language learning environment in a community-engaged setting in a Canadian city through a new materialist lens. As part of a service-learning project, Canadian students of Finnish language and culture visit a Finnish language seniors’ centre regularly to participate in different activities and spend time with the Finnish-speaking seniors. We examine the assemblage of the participants (seniors and students) and one artefact, a map, and offer a close analysis of the intra-action that takes place during one visit at the centre. Tämän tutkimuksen tavoitteena on kartoittaa verkossa saatavilla olevia ilmaisia, yksikielisiä konkordanssiohjelmia Windows-ympäristössä. Lisäksi tavoitteena on selvittää, millaisia toimintoja ilmaiset konkordanssiohjelmat sisältävät, sekä lähdekirjallisuuteen perehtymällä selvittää konkordanssiohjelmien hyödyntämismahdollisuuksia kääntämisessä. The objective of the present study is to search the Internet for free, monolingual concordance programs that are available for Windows platform. Another aim is to find out what kinds of functionalities these concordance programs include and by using relevant literature, clarify how concordance programs can be utilized in translation.

The synthesis of a dansylated fibrate (DNS-X) has been performed in order to identify the cellular affinity sites of peroxisome proliferators and to establish the subcellular localization of such molecules. DNS-X has been obtained by coupling the dansy1 chloride with the amine resulting from the bezafibrate alkaline hydrolysis. The purified DNS-X has been further characterized by spectrum analysis (UV-Vis, fluorescence, [1H]/[13C]-NMR and mass). At 250 microM and incubated for 48 h with the rat hepatic derived cells (Fao cells), DNS-X stimulates 12-fold the palmitoyl-CoA oxidase, a peroxisome proliferation marker enzyme.
