ADC based measurements: Identification of the parameters for the uncertainty evaluation
2009
In the last years, many Authors have dealt with the uncertainty evaluation of the measurement performed by using an analog-to-digital converter, proposing different approach to analyze the uncertainty propagation. In all these studies, it is clearly pointed out that starting from the manufacturer specifications is the least expensive, the least time consuming and, often, the most accurate way to assess the uncertainties. However, the Authors, which have proposed methodologies for the uncertainty assessment, use different parameters as starting point. One of the main reasons which has caused this situation is the coexistent of various Standards concerning the characterization of the analog-t…
Volumetric Reconstruction of Unorganized Set of Points with Implicit Surfaces
2005
Many solutions exist to rebuild a three-dimensional object represented by a set of points. The purpose of our work is to provide an automatic reconstruction from an unorganized cloud, describing an unknown shape, in the aim to compute its volume. The approach employed in this paper consists in filling the object's interior with isosurfaces of potential fields and to use their fusion property in order to find the full volume and the continuous shape of the sampled object. Thus, the first step of our reconstruction is to search a correct interior for the object described by the set of points. Then, comes the positioning of implicit primitives into the cloud, deep inside of it and close to the…
Quasiregular mappings and Young measures
2002
W1,p-gradient Young measures supported in the set Q2(K) of two-dimensional K-quasiconformal matrices are studied. We prove that these Young measures can be generated by gradients of K-quasiregular mappings. This leads, for example, to the 0-1 law for quasiregular W1,p-gradient Young measures and other quasiregular properties such as higher integrability.
The Kp Hierarchy
1989
As an application of the theory of infinite-dimensional Grassmannians and the representation theory of gl1 we shall study in this chapter certain nonlinear “exactly solvable” systems of differential equations. Exactly solvable means here that the nonlinear system can be transformed to an (infinite-dimensional) linear problem. A prototype of the equations is the Korteweg-de Vries equation $$\frac{{\partial u}}{{\partial t}} = \frac{3}{3}u\frac{{\partial u}}{{\partial x}} + \frac{1}{4}\frac{{{\partial ^3}u}}{{\partial {x^3}}}$$ . It turns out that it is more natural to consider an infinite system of equations like that above, for obtaining explicit solutions. The set of equations is called th…
Primitive rispetto all’ oscillazione
2002
We study the real valued functions having a primitive with respect to the oscillation or a primitive with respect to the oscillation up to anegligible set.
A Note on the Density of Rational Functions in A ∞(Ω)
2018
We present a sufficient condition to ensure the density of the set of rational functions with prescribed poles in the algebra A ∞ (Ω).
Rasiowa–Sikorski Sets and Forcing
2018
The paper is concerned with the problem of building models for first-order languages from the perspective of the classic paper of Rasiowa and Sikorski (1950). The central idea, due to Rasiowa and Sikorski and developed in this paper, is constructing first-order models from individual variables. The notion of a Rasiowa–Sikorski set of formulas of an arbitrary language L is introduced. Investigations are confined to countable languages. Each Rasiowa–Sikorski set defines a countable model for L. Conversely, each countable model for L is determined, up to isomorphism, by some Rasiowa–Sikorski set. Consequences of these facts are investigated.
Set valued integrability in non separable Fréchet spaces and applications
2016
AbstractWe focus on measurability and integrability for set valued functions in non-necessarily separable Fréchet spaces. We prove some properties concerning the equivalence between different classes of measurable multifunctions. We also provide useful characterizations of Pettis set-valued integrability in the announced framework. Finally, we indicate applications to Volterra integral inclusions.
Artificial neural network applied to the discrimination of antibacterial activity by topological methods
2000
Abstract A new topological method that makes it possible to discriminate the active and inactive molecules on the basis of their chemical structures is applied in the present study to the antibacterial agents. This method uses neural networks in which training algorithms are used as well as different concepts and methods of artificial intelligence with a suitable set of topological descriptors. It is possible to obtain a QSAR interpretation of the information contained in the network after the training has been carried out.
New tool useful for drug discovery validated through benchmark datasets
2018
Atomic Weighted Vectors (AWVs) are vectors that contain the codified information of molecular structures, which can apply to a set of Aggregation Operators (AOs) to calculate total and local molecular descriptors (MDs). This article presents an exploratory study of a new tool useful for drug discovery using different datasets, such as DRAGON and Sutherland’s datasets, as well as their comparison with other well-known approaches. In order to evaluate the performance of the tool, several statistics and QSAR/QSPR experiments were performed. Variability analyses are used to quantify the information content of the AWVs obtained from the tool, by the way of an information theory-based algorithm. …
