Massadata urheiluanalytiikan apuna
2017
Tutkielman toteutustapa on tieteellinen kirjallisuuskatsaus. Tulokseksi tutkielmassa saatiin, massadataa voitavan hyödyntää urheiluanalytiikassa monilla eri tavoilla, jotka liittyvät pelaajien ja ot…
Automatic evaluation of information provider reliability and expertise
2013
Published version of an article in the journal: World Wide Web. Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s11280-013-0249-x Q&A social media have gained a lot of attention during the recent years. People rely on these sites to obtain information due to a number of advantages they offer as compared to conventional sources of knowledge (e.g., asynchronous and convenient access). However, for the same question one may find highly contradicting answers, causing an ambiguity with respect to the correct information. This can be attributed to the presence of unreliable and/or non-expert users. These two attributes (reliability and expertise) significantly affect the quality o…
Pricavy-Preserving Aspects for Data Mining in ICT Services
The steady adoption of systems for profiling users behavior, collecting and critically interpreting as much information as possible about likes and dislikes, interests and habits of Internet residents and generic services consumers have rapidly become some of the hottest keywords within networking research community. Indeed, mining information about users behavior is an advantage for both service providers and service customers: on one side, providers can improve their revenues by focusing on the most successful features of their services, while on the other side, users can enjoy services which reflect closer their specific needs. There are many examples of user profiling applications. Inte…
Vaaliennusteiden laadinta perustuen Twitter-palvelusta louhittuun dataan
2017
Tässä tutkielmassa käsitellään Twitter-palvelusta louhitun datan hyödyntämistä vaaliennusteiden laadinnan työkaluna. Tutkielmassa esitellään ja analysoidaan tutkimuksia, joissa on louhittu ja pyritty analysoimaan Twitter-palvelun käyttäjien palveluun lähettämiä viestejä. Tutkielman tarkoituksena on kertoa vastaus kysymykseen, voidaanko Twitteristä kerätyn datan pohjalta laatia vaaliennusteita. Aiempia tutkimuksia läpikäymällä esitellään twiittien louhinnan, seulonnan, analyysin ja ennusteiden laadinnan menetelmiä parhaan mahdollisen metodin löytämiseksi. Tässä tutkielmassa vertaillaan louhitun datan pohjalta tehtyjen ennusteiden tuloksia ja luotettavuutta perinteisiin, kyselytutkimuksina to…
Utility of Alternative Effect Size Statistics and the Development of a Web-Based Calculator: Shiny-AESC
2018
Alternative displays of effect size statistics can enhance the understandability and impact of validity evidence in a variety of applied settings. Arguably, the proliferation of alternative effect size statistics has been limited due to the lack of user-friendly tools to create them. Common statistical packages do not readily produce these alternative effect sizes and existing tools are outdated and inaccessible. In this paper, I introduce a free-to-use web-based calculator (https://dczhang.shinyapps.io/expectancyApp/) for generating alternative effect size displays from empirical data. This calculator requires no mathematical or programming expertise, and therefore, is ideal for academics …
Gratitude Questionnaire–20 Items (G20): A Cross-Cultural, Psychometric and Crowdsourcing Analysis
2020
The use in psychology of crowdsourcing platforms as a method of data collection has been increasing in popularity because of its relative ease and versatility. Our goal is to adapt the Gratitude Questionnaire–20 Items (G20) to the English language by using data collected through a crowdsourcing platform. The G20 is a comprehensive instrument that takes in consideration the different basic processes of gratitude and assesses the construct’s cognitive, evaluative, emotional, and behavioral processes. We test the psychometric properties of the English version of the G20 with a Prolific (ProA) user sample. We assess the adequacy of the G20 for the crowdsourcing population in its English version…

Valtuuksienhallintamekanismit tiedonhallintajärjestelmissä YouDataa esimerkkinä käyttäen
2011
2020
The aim of this essay is to assess the capacity of innovative credit scoring techniques to improve financial inclusion of the unbanked. Given the lack of informations on immigrants creditworthiness, the use of Big Data analytics could be a useful tool, because it makes possibile to collect and analyze the huge quantity of data produced online by the consumer. According to the author, it is questionable the compliance of social network data with the requirements of the Testo Unico Bancario: according to articles 120 undecies and 124 bis, the data used in the creditworthiness assessment should be connected with the consumer’s ability to repay the debt. The essay, moreover, stress the need for…
Relational approach to infant-teacher lap interactions during the transition from home to early childhood education and care
2022
The transition from home care to early childhood education and care (ECEC) is a period of intense change and development in young children's socio-spatial worlds. This article focuses on infant–teacher lap interactions during this transition period. This investigation applies a relational approach to the study of infant–teacher lap interactions. In doing so, it highlights the inherently social and contextual nature of interaction. From a relational perspective, actors, context, and situation are seen as constitutive of each other, and their interrelationality is considered central to the emergence of interactions. The data, regarding infants' first months attending ECEC in Finland, is compo…
